Looking for an orthopedic surgeon in Geneva

I am looking for an orthopedic surgeon who practices at the Clinique Generale Beaulieu in Geneva. I am in need of full knee replacement surgery. I have experience with this clinic and it easily accessible for our family.

- Is there any data on feedback from patients?
- Which doctor does the most knee surgeries?
- Is there any way to get a review of a doctor - how well they do their job, how the patient feels, success rate, etc.?

If you could recommend a doctor that I could meet and decide upon, I would be grateful.

Thanks

Billy

Re: Looking for an orthopedic surgeon in Geneva

if you want a surgeon that works at Clinique General -B why not look at their website?

http://www.beaulieu.ch/fr/infos-mede...pecialites.php

as for references , no. of cases etc.. I'm not sure if there is a GE site for rating doctors but before my surgery ( prostate ) I asked four surgeons those sort of questions ( how many have you done, how long have you been performing this type of op. ) and they were all quite happy to answer.

ah..... I see...

start with chief of section and work down.

( if you know you need a knee job you must have an ortho doc already no? , can't he do the op or recommend someone? )

Re: Looking for an orthopedic surgeon in Geneva

Thanks. I have met two already, with two more to go. I have a long list of questions - how often, any problems, etc. One orthopedic surgeon was ok with answering my questions but the other MD acted grumpy and curt; I think he put off by the idea that I was seeking additional opinions of my knee situation. I have heard too many horror stories of infections in hospitials, inattentive staff, no recourse in the event of a problem, etc. I am just trying to research these guys a bit - so far unable to get any feedback on the OS guys that I am meeting. I worry, perhaps too much, and need to feel ok with the guy before I let him cut me open.

Re: Looking for an orthopedic surgeon in Geneva

totally understandable but I'm surprised by the reaction of the guys you talked to

again prior to my prostate op I spoke with four surgeons including my orignal doc.. he wanted to so a full surgery.. slice open from here to there and see what he could find .. I wasn't up for that so started looking for laproscopic (sp) surgeons

I met with three and the two I didn't go with each spent about an hour with me, answering all questions and concerns... AND when I did not schedule surgery with them that was the last I heard of them.. no bills from their cabinet.

best of luck to you whatever happens and as you know .. Clinique General-B is a great place
( my doc came to check on me day after surgery just as someone has brought my dinner tray and he looked "what no wine?" then he told the attendant to come back with the wine list............"list?" )

Re: Looking for an orthopedic surgeon in Geneva

Urgent: Hi, I see some of you were really researching to find good orthopedist for your knees, I am wondering if you had a Brilliant doctor to recommend.

My Mother is less than 60, but she has severe pain in her Knees, the problem is Osteoarthritis. Please send me your best recommendation. Thanks a lot!

Re: Looking for an orthopedic surgeon in Geneva

Thank you so Much for the quick reply. I am searching and was checking this KneeCenter which I thought should be really specialized.

I shall immediately call HUG, not sure if they will give me appointment. Do you think operation is the best solution, sorry to ask. My mom is around 55 years old, she is complaining alot, though she can walk well around.

Re: Looking for an orthopedic surgeon in Geneva

55 is normally too young for a full knee replacement-so they will assess and decide what treatment is best. EF is not the place to make health assessment, is it? A knee replacement lasts about 30 years max- so normally they want to wait till mid 60s to do it. Does your mother have Swiss health insurance???
