9 hours of labor? How does one survive such torture?
It's tough but I used the "laughing gas".

Wife had an epidural though.

Re: She's here .......

One trick with the reflux - without resorting to drugs or thickening agents for the milk - is to raise the cot slightly at the end where the head is. This makes it more difficult for the feed to rise up again.

With my daughter we had severe reflux ( she was a premie ) and the doctor prescribed some thickening agents for the bottle milk ( my wife couldn't breastfeed ) and it worked wonders.

Regarding the reflux we've done all the usually tricks - raising the cot, keeping her upright for 30 mins after a feed, true the thickening agents but made her curl up in cramps. Doctor has prescribed Nexium for now 3.5 ml only. Apparently it's temporary but not sure if it will work. She still vomits a lot but apparently it's supposed to help with the acid pains. :-(. She can sometimes cry for an entire day! I can tell you that was a shock to the system.

There is another bottle feed we used - I think it was called HN25. It is especially used for babies who vomit a lot, suffer from reflux or acute diarrhea. We used it for about 3 months or so and it helped tremendously along with the anti-reflux thickening agents (it was prescribed by a doctor and used under supervision).

The things is, she will get through this and she will make you wonder what all the fuss was about, but there will be some anxious days ahead. We have been through this and there is light at the end of the tunnel but our prayers and hopes are with you as we know how painful it can be to see ones child suffer and not be able to alleviate the pain.

Not everyone's cup of tea but for our reflux babies visiting a chiropractor in the first 12 weeks really helped, here some more info on it

Thanks for the link. Is this the same as Cranio therapy? Just something my MW suggested. I've had Cranio myself but can't say I was impressed but many people with newborns have said its really good. I'm not sure.

Congratulations for your beautiful girl!!

I wish all the best to your family and hope that quieter times come soon. Know that the first two months are usually the most intense ones, then everything gets better. So, there's hope

Hadn't heard about cranio, looked it up but it is not the same therapy but sounds that it is based on the same principles . Chiropractic care is based on the belief that when the spine is not aligned the nerves can't send the right message to the rest of the body. By aligning the spine it is helping the body to help itself. It looks like that with Cranio therapy the light touches on certain trigger points also is meant to kick start the body in healing itself.

Googling your area I found this guy, he studied in the US so should speak english
