I was actually wondering if it was written in tax law stone that writing a bill is not optional.
What would this have to do with tax?

Anyway, it is permissible to request cash payments for treatments which are outside of the basic health insurance treatment catalogue. Source

The payment itself yes, but they still have to register it somehow for their own bookkeeping and tax purposes, otherwise, it would be purely black market economy.

Why does it matter?
You incur costs, you pay.
If you want money for a service you offer, you can, but don't have to, choose the method of payment for the payer. Simples.
It's not written in stone that medical professionals have to send bills.
But the paper trail is important in case they decide to double bill you. (I actually had this happen with a non-covered service twice at Swiss Smiles, but thankfully, I paid by post finance card and had a receipt. It still took over six months to get it sorted out)

Just because you pay in cash doesn't mean there isn't a paper trail. You should always ask for a detailed receipt for any payment you make whether in cash or not.

Exactly. Comparing this to how many things one can return in shops without a receipt: None
And how many (elderly) people pay in cash, run to the post office to pay bills in cash at the tills, don't even have online banking? Quite a few, I dare say

Re: Circumcision in Switzerland [info ONLY please]

Hi there,

I would like to warm up this topic. No debate please, I am looking for recommendations of doctors.
We would like to get the operation be performed shortly after birth (hygienic & religious reasons). We would prefer a hospital setting but if there is a great private practice to be recommended, please share.
Our target would be Zürich, Basel or Bern area. Solothurn even better.

Thanks a lot & cheers,
Vixy

p.s. Google gives me articles on the topic but not real contacts to doctors....

There are two times where circumcision is advisable. Soon after birth and aged about 2 years. Here they prefer the after 2 years. Soon after birth is not such a good idea unless for religious reasons. Note also that generally this is not covered by your medical expenses so you need to pay yourself and it will cost circa CHF 1800-2000. If you wait until the boy is 2 years old then there can be medical reasons for a circumcision. Note also recovery time is circa 3 weeks.

Doing things for religions reasons is a bad idea

Re: Circumcision in Switzerland [info ONLY please]

Speak to your obstetrician or the hospital where you plan to have your baby. They will know which doctors still do the procedure. When my kids were born in Australia, there was just one doctor that the local hospital could refer to. And no, my kids are not circumcised... very hard to meet this request without a lot of opinion.

Do be aware that if you circumcise your kids, in Switzerland they will be in the small minority...the historical and current circumcision rate is less than 20% in Switzerland.

Here's an idea, why don't you leave your kids as they are, then when they're adults they can decide for themselves if they want to have parts of their genitals removed for "religious and hygienic reasons". Then they can come back and ask.

Funny though, there aren't any threads on that.

They got closed by the mods.

Not sure why a 'where can I go to get my kids mutilated?" thread is so sacred.

I thought EF would be a bit more secular.

Re: Circumcision in Switzerland [info ONLY please]

I would like to share the clinic, where we went based on the recommendation of our pediatrician:

http://tokterhuus.ch/

For appointment: +41 44 825 41 41

PD Dr. med. Jean-Pierre Pochon
Facharzt Kinderchirurgie FMH

PD Dr. med. Marcus Schwöbel
Facharzt Kinderchirurgie FMH

Costs 450 CHF in cash, not covered by the insurance.

Very friendly, professional and clean place. The explained the whole process with the "ring" and gave us written information about the aftercare. Also wrote a letter to our pediatrician to explain what they did.

Btw this address was also mentioned by a previous poster.

Re: Circumcision in Switzerland [info ONLY please]

Evolution has seen fit to keep foreskin on men, hence why I wouldn't have it removed either on myself or my future children. It also carries risk of permanent penile and sexual dysfunction.

Other than for deep-rooted religious or unavoidable medical reasons, I can't see how any sane and rational person would subject their children to it.
