Re: Legal advise and help for women and children in emergency situations, GE area

It would be good to collect information on help in other areas as well, please, should you find some older threads with info on this, report them, I will add them to the list.

Hugs to all who might need help and find these addresses useful and thanks to lovely members who provide the information.

Re: Legal advice and help for women and children in emergency situations, GE area

EDIT: Title has been sorted.
Thanks for having included "parents" and not discriminating men.

See, if the "Service Social" is offering "parental rights", etc...
As see below:
Traite les questions liées : protection de l’enfant,
droits parentaux, déplacement d’enfant, pensions
alimentaires, adoption internationale, recherche des
origines, couples binationaux, mineur non accompagné,

Should it not be a generic title also aimed for men?

Unless women are the only parent and men only the banker?

PS: not trying to screw your topic, just trying to make it fair.

Re: Legal advice and help to parents and children in emergency situations, GE area

Right, the sticky was inspired by a situation of a woman forcefully separated from her 5mo old baby, true, the legal help will be provided to all parents, regardless of gender. Fixed the title.

Now, we will post contacts here of some specifically "women in need" institutions that aim to help them and their kids, so don't get surprised.

Thank you for posting this information.

There is in Geneva http://www.f-information.org/
a place for women to get help & advice - you might need to ask in advice for assistance in English.

I fondly remember No. 143 when I was in great distress because one of my friends called me because he wanted to kill himself. They gave me good advice how to handle the situation.

Re: Legal advice and help to parents and children in emergency situations

Although "crisis intervention centres" are aimed at adults, sometimes they will compromise and allow a parent to bring a child with them, especially if the child is still very small (under 2, mostly).

Kriseninterventionszentrum Winterthur
https://ipw.zh.ch/internet/gesundhei...interthur.html

Kriseninterventionszentrum Zürich
https://www.pukzh.ch/unsere-angebote...nintervention/

Kriseninterventionszentrum St Gallen
https://www.psgn.ch/therapien/psycho...ervention.html

These centres are organised by the city or cantonal psychiatric departments, but don't let that put you off. If you are in need - any kind of crisis - you can approach them.

Depending on your situation, they may or may not be the right place to run to.
They are networked and may give you further advice.

The advantage is that they are open 24 hours a day.
Also, if you do stay there, the costs are covered by your compulsory general medical insurance.

Re: Legal advice and help to parents and children in emergency situations

In cases of approaching any help line or help centre: please do not be put off by a language barrier.

If the person who answers cannot understand you, slowly list all the language you can speak (not just English).

Perhaps they will find you someone right away, who can communicate with you. Perhaps they will tell you when to call back, when someone else will be working, who can help you in a language you understand.

Re: Legal advice and help to parents and children in emergency situations

If you find yourself in a situation spiralling out of control fast and your children are in danger then call the police.

A couple of times I have had to call them and honestly the ones I dealt with were very good and sympathetic but also effective.

In my case the person had to answer to a judge for their actions.
