Re: Drop-in clinic at Zurich HB

I visited the Permanence twice and had only good experiences. My in-laws go there from time to time as well. The waiting time is long but they show the web-cam image of the waiting ticket number online. I checked-in, went out to have quick dinner across the street and when I was almost done with the dinner, realized my turn will be ready soon so went back in.

Re: Drop-in clinic at Zurich HB

I can also recommend Notfallpraxis at Stauffacher (tram stop) - it is not as crowded as the station in HB and they also have a ticketing system (one sends them an sms and they send one back the ticket #). Waiting time was around 10-15 min, since it was in the evening during the week and max. 2 other people before us waiting for a consultation.

Re: Drop-in clinic at Zurich HB

Hi,

Thank you for the post. How much more expensive is permanence compared to other regular doctor? I heard that the consultation is not too expensive, but the medicines are. Is it possible to go there, get the rezept and then go to a pharmacy to buy the medicine?

Thanks for the quick reply. I have been thinking of going there. But my boyfriend kept telling me that it will be a lot more expensive. I think I'll go tomorrow. Good that they are always open

I don't know about the on in ZH, but if it's anything like Medix Toujours at Basel SBB (which is a similar principle to Permanance), they just give you a prescription as normal and you go to any pharmacy to get it filled.

Re: Drop-in clinic at Zurich HB

AMC at the airport has the medication you need or you can get it at the pharmacy at the airport or any other pharmacy. So far I have not noticed any differences in price.

Added benefit to the AMC, open long hours and in principle 24 hrs, as they are the airport medical facility.

Found out about them years ago when I got back from a business trip really not feeling well and had no GP in Switzerland. Have been going there since whenever I needed to go to a GP, very satisfied with what they offer

You get the prescription from Permanence, and then can go directly next door to the 24 hour HB pharmacy to fulfil it (also through connecting door), just like any other prescription (same price as far as I've seen, as also the consultation).

I guess you can also take the prescription elsewhere, but have never bothered as it's so convenient.

Edit: Have just double checked - their web-site confirms (only in German) that the consultation costs are charged at the officially recognised health insurance rates i.e.:

"Rechnung erfolgt nach den in der Schweiz vorgegebenen offiziellen Tarifpositionen (Krankenkassen resp. SUVA-Tarif)".

Re: Drop-in clinic at Zurich HB

I've used the permanence at the HB and they were not more expensive than my local doctor... I am pretty sure they have 'standard' rates like everywhere else.

And I took my health insurance details and ID and they sent me the bill...you only need to pay directly if you aren't covered by Swiss health insurance...

Re: Drop-in clinic at Zurich HB

I was a patient at this clinic yesterday and only waited 45 minutes to see a doctor. My lab work was processed in 10 minutes, and I met with the doctor a second time after labs were completed. The price was very reasonable, and I am happy to say I would definitely visit this clinic again if I need a quick visit to a doctor for an urgent meeting.

Totally agree. We too have been to the AMC at the airport and found them excellent - the opening hours are so much better/more flexible than the normal GP surgeries.

Re: Drop-in clinic at Zurich HB

I had mixed experience with Permanence at HB. I think it depends on the doctor. I have been there few times for general virus infection and the diagnosis was done pretty quickly.
Last time i was there with a bit unusual eye problem. GP said its nothing and it should be ok by the next day. Unfortunately the same day evening, i had to go to augennotfall in universitätsspital due to pain and the doctor there said i need to rest my eye for at least 3 days and gave antibiotics.

During normal hours, i recommend sanacare in oerlikon. During other time permanence is good alternative.

Re: Drop-in clinic at Zurich HB

Permanance is an excellent clinic: super clean, efficient and convenient.

Friendly receptionists and excellent doctors that listen to their patients and take time to provide and explain their advice.

The Apotheke next door is also great - friendliest staff in Zürich, especially when you are feeling a little under the weather.
