Switzerland has clinics for pretty much everything. First stop would be your local doctor, who would probably make the appropriate referral.

Hi - I am just wondering if you have gotten any treatment leads in Bern. I am also looking for a suitable treatment program in Bern. Would be nice to know a bit more from your side if you don't mind.
Ok- have a great day. Hopefully to hear from you soon.

Go to your Doctor, and they will refer you to a specialist that can help you, or whoever needs help. When my son was in hospital there was a few teenage children in hospital with an eating disorder. I have also worked in hospital with a young girl with the same illness, and it was very upsetting for her parents when they came to visit her, so please get the help you, or whoever needs help before you, or they end up in hospital |

If this is for yourself, please see someone. Eating disorders are serious diseases.
The outpatient clinic at the University of Bern might be able to help you - here's a page in English - they treat eating disorders there. http://www.ptp.unibe.ch/lenya/ptp/li...stelle_en.html
Your primary care physician might be able to refer you to a clinic, but if he/she can't or won't then please contact the university.
Here are some other links that might help - mostly in German, I'm afraid. http://www.infoset.ch/de/MainFrame.s...em=SuchtEssst1 |

I'm sorry I can't offer a lead for a medical specialist, but I will say it's wonderful that you are intervening now with your teenage daughter. I only wish someone had intervened when I first became anorexic in my teens. Had they done so, I wonder if the 10+ years I suffered with eating disorders might have been eliminated. I feel lucky to be alive today and healthy, all things considered.
If you need support, feel free to pm me. I am happy to provide my phone number or self in-person to you and/or your daughter as well should either of you want to grab a tea and talk about what is happening.
Hang in there. Eating disorders are devastating not just to those who suffer from them but their families as well. *big hug*

I don't know of a specialist either...the psychiatry departments at either uni Lausanne or Geneva may be able to help. Your primary care doc or child's pediatrician should be able to help with a referral.
But you're a good dad. Eating disorders can be serious illnesses. Good luck!

Septiale, your daughter's paediatrician will know how to help.
Help now will avoid years of difficulty.
An eating-disorder never really goes away, but with the correct and appropriate support is can be lessened.

Maybe that is true for some people but I think for most of us who have suffered from eds, we will never, ever be what we were before when it comes to our relationship with food.
But we'll be better. Much better.

While definitely more common in girls, as far as I'm aware, Septiale hasn't made that distinction yet.

Honestly though, I've met very few men with eds over the years (two were friends..others through treatment centers). Eds really are something that hit women far more often. However, fewer men come forward so that's something to think about (ditto for violence against men).
