Documents to register second baby

Hello EF. I was hoping that some parents out there could perhaps help with this question.

My wife and I heard from a friend that if you have had a second child, and you are still living in the same Gemeinde as when your first child arrived, then there is no need to resubmit all the legal papers again (parents birth certs, marriage cert, etc.)

Has anyone encountered this?

Re: Documents to register second baby

I would check with the place where the birth will be registered. With our second child we got all the documentation including new copies of our birth certificates etc and then nobody wanted it as they had everything from number one. I have had friends who did need the stuff again however.

Definitely ask. For us (slightly diff admin situation) as it was going to be a big hassle to get some of the foreign documents again, they agreed to accept the ones from the 1st child. For certain documents (the Swiss ones) though they wanted current ones.

I didn't have to submit anything for either child, and I was still a foreigner then.

Things have probably changed a little bit since then.

Re: Documents to register second baby

We were also looking into this (only have 2 more months until we see how it goes). I emailed the Zürich Zivilstandsamt and my husband called and we both received the same answer: Birth certificates and marriage certificate are on file from the first time and there is no need to resubmit. This is just to get the baby's birth certificate though.
