Thyroid Blood tests from GP?

Hello,
just came back from a short home visit and took advantage of the HMO system there to do some blood tests.
my TSH levels are crazy! but i suspect its due to some changes with my medicines.

I want to repeat the blood test, do I have to go to an Endocrinologist or my GP can also give me the blood test?

Both GPs that I've visited here have done the blood tests for TSH. They may send the blood to a lab for analysis but they'll take the blood at the GP.

Depending on the results of course the GP may refer you to an endocrinologist.

My GP is Basel is able to give me the results. When things got out of control that I was sent to an endocrinologist.

The GP can do the test... but be aware that not all GPs are up on thyroid issues. My GP only runs T4 and (rarely) TSH, which may or may not be enough information given your history. As you probably know, diagnosing thyroid conditions can be a tad more complicated than comparing one result against norms. But other GPs might follow different procedures. YMMV.

The endocrinologist usually runs all parameters (depending on your individual situation), and likely is better placed to interpret results.

To get to see an endocrinologist in anything close to a timely fashion, however, you probably need a GP referral. (It took two months even with an 'emergency' referral...) So starting with your GP is likely a good first step.
