Childs passport

Does a childs passport needs to be signed by a parent? (Swiss passport).

The application form would be signed by the parents in any case for a child below the age of 18.

For the passport/ID card, it they are too young to sign (from memory below the age of 8 years), there are just some ***** instead of a signature.

there was no ****** in the signature area

was wondering if a parent needs to sign it as most countires wants you to leave it blank...

That is not permitted. See Art. 11, Paragraph 3:

Thanks for the link. To correct my post, the age to sign is 7 years and not 8 as I mentioned (I was going by memory ).

It seems from Art. 11 p 2 that the *** is used ONLY with the ID cards (I checked one and it is correct) but not with the passport (we don't have them for the kids so I could not check).
