Breast pump need URGENT!!!

I have a friend visiting and unfortunately the passports got stolen. The american database for immigration/passports crashed and she is now stuck here with us. The father and kids managed to fly out yesterday and since she was breastfeeding, she is having trouble now. is there anyone willing to lend a breast pump for a day or two? i can collect in Baden and Zurich area. if its not too far from Zurich, i can still come and collect.

Re: Breast pump need URGENT!!!

If she is getting an infection, (which she may very well do, due to all the stress) call the Kantonsspital Baden. Stillberatung, 056 486 29 45

Re: Breast pump need URGENT!!!

In the worst case, you should be able to find a pharmacy open on Sunday where you can purchase an inexpensive manual pump. Not ideal, but for a day or two it should work.

Re: Breast pump need URGENT!!!

If you can't get hold of a pump, she can express by hand (this might even be more comfortable for her if she's not used to using a pump). There's a nice set of instructions here: http://www.babycentre.co.uk/x552877/...stmilk-by-hand but googling "expressing breast milk by hand" will bring up loads of instructions, including videos.

Re: Breast pump need URGENT!!!

What a terrible story- surely if baby is breastfed s/he should have stayed with her- swapping a baby to other milk can be a nightmare.

An old wives trick which is apprarently very effective is wrapping the breast in large cabbage leaves- changed often and kept in fridge.
