Hospital for baby birth- Limmattal Schlieren vs. Triemli zurich

Hello,
We are shifting to Schlieren in October & expecting our first baby. We are evaluating hospital for delivery among Limmattal Schlieren vs. Triemli zurich.
While heard very positive about Triemli there is not much heard about Limmattal.
Can you any one share some experience? How is staff? etc.
Does hospital staff speaks English?

Thanks a lot

Hi!

I've just seen your question about Schlieren hospital and Triemli. I have the same issue now, we are expecting a baby in two month and we are choosing from those two hospitals. Which one did you go at the end? Did you have good experience?

Thanks!
Oksana

Dear Oksana,
We went for limmittal Schlieren. And we had Great experience.
All the mid wives, staff and doctors are very good. Very caring and helpful.
Though it was a normal delivery, Overall we felt they have good facilities. Doctors waited quite Long to have normal delivery rather hurrIng for surgery. Which was also very positive.

Cheers

Mid wives and doctors before and during delivery Speaks English. Once you move in room after delivery, there not all the stuff members understand english.

Re: Hospital for baby birth- Limmattal Schlieren vs. Triemli zurich

Hi there
I was on the same situation a year ago while we were expecting our first child. I didnt found that many feedback about Limmattal hospital so we decided to go for Triemli. By the time the labour starts we called Triemli and we were told to come in. After they checked everything the told me to go back home and wait a little longer until the labour progress so we went back and called when I was ready unfortunately they were fully booked and I was told to choose another hospital so we went to Limmattal.

At first everything looked perfectly going but things start to change after 6 hours, the baby's head was not where it was suppose to be. The midwife tried everything to make the natural birth possible but nothing could help so it was decided to perform emergency C-section. And all went okay.
Eventhough Limmattal was not our first choice I have had a great experience both with the doctors and the midwifes. They took enough time to explain us what was going on and also gave us enough time to decide before the emergency C-section. The after care was also great. And most of the stuffs speack very good English
.

I hope this helps and Good luck

Re: Hospital for baby birth- Limmattal Schlieren vs. Triemli zurich

Hello Everyone,

It will be really helpful if anyone having experience of baby birth in Triemli can advise me please:

We are currently residing in Zurich and happily expecting our first child to be born in August. My gynecologist has registered me this week in Triemli hospital approx 6 weeks prior to the due date and we received the registration forms/contact details via mail.

So once we fill up the registration form and submit to them immediately:

1) Do the hospital doctors also start checking my progress in parallel from now on, even though I will continue visiting my gynecologist?

Or they completely rely on the medical reports my gynecologist will be sending to them?

2) Do they allocate a particular midwife to us as a point of contact from the very beginning for any clarification we require?

Or is it like whenever we want any information just need to visit them and whoever is available will help us?

Thanks in advance
Amrita

Re: Hospital for baby birth- Limmattal Schlieren vs. Triemli zurich

Hi Amrita,

1) From my experience you should continue going to your doctor unless you want to switch to the one in the hospital. The doctor will send all the reports. I dont think they do parallel, but maybe you should check it with them. For me as soon as I said I want to go to the hospital, my doctor was not responsible anymore for me and the hospital took over.

2) If you are talking about a midwife who will be with you at the delivery, I dont think there is any assigned one. They change all the time. If you talk about the one who comes to your home after delivery, you should find one yourself.

I think it would be best to ask this questions to your doctor.

Have a nice day!
Oksana

Prenatal care at Limmattal Spital Schlieren?

Hello,

Hopefully those who have posted their experiences here 2 years ago are still around and would kindly reply.

So, I just found out that I am pregnant. First child. I live literally a 5 minute walk from Limmattal Spital. So, just called in to set up my first appointment with a gynecologist there.

I don't know who I will get to see that day (the receptionist said I will be seeing a "oberarzt"), but I get to see the same doctor throughout my pregnancy. Has anyone received their prenatal care by a gynecologist in Limmattal Spital? Who did you see and how was the experience? Is it better to get a prenatal care from a gynecologist working in a praxis vs spital?

Thank you!

Re: Hospital for baby birth- Limmattal Schlieren vs. Triemli zurich

Regarding the last part of the question...what do you want? Natural birth or c-section? If the latter, carry on i dont think there is much difference in preganancy care. If it doesnt matter, carry on.

However, if you want natural birth with a comphehensive birth plan aimed to acheive that, take caution. Find out the c-section rate at the hospital. In CH they can run high, most ate hovering at 30 percent.

If you want to increase your chances with midwives and drs who will aim to help that goal, try a birthhouse or a less medication driven hospital or that empowers you if u taje a decision to c-section rather to force your hand.

We wanted natural and empowering drs and midwives, so we went to Paracelsus in Richterswil. Wonderful experience, the midwives were on your time. Not the other way around and really discussed all aspects with us during pregancy care, during birth, and after - amazing staff. English speakers as well, they didnt make us feel like a number, but special. We live in the Limmatal so hospital was 30 to 40 minute ride - for your first child.....plenty of time. Gyn care was fantastic and they really paid attention to all clinical data from symptoms to lab values. We started off at a private praxis, but the poor attention to detail and poor patient engagement, made us switch around start if 2nd trimester to Paracelsus.

Hope it helps,

Parkadam

1) The last check before the birth termin you can do with you gynecologist or in the hospital normally after the last check you have a long time without checks and your birth termin you still have to go to the hospital if no signs of birth.

2) No, but they have an information session and you can make an appointment with a Midwife to ask questions, my son was a bit of a long birth so we had different midwifes, they come and they go they one allocated to your room is what you get. Some are very comforting, other are more experienced but not so comforting but from our experience they were all good (Triemli)

Those of you who recently went to Triemli, do you know if the rooms (I believe they are on the last floor) have windows that can be opened or AC? Thank you

Triemli is definitely the best and we are not the only ones who would agree with us. I think of all of our friends they would also agree. I cannot say anything for Limmattal because none of us foreigners have experience there. We would go to Triemli.

Re: Hospital for baby birth- Limmattal Schlieren vs. Triemli zurich

For any future mothers, at Triemli you can also sign up for a midwife who has delivery privileges (I believe there are three at this hospital). This means you will have the midwife deliver your child ( as long as there are no complications).Otherwise you will just get whichever doctor is on shift at that time. It does cost a little more, but I chose to go this route so I would be guaranteed an english speaker during labour and she will be focused on me the entire time, as opposed to other doctors who have more than one patient to care for. The other benefit is that this same midwife has done my prenatal check-ups and will do my post-natal check-ups as well. You do need to register or sign up early in pregnancy because they book up fast!

Eh? So how can you say it's better if you've no experience with Limmattal?

The biggest advantage Limmattal has over Triemli is that there are only 2 bed rooms there as opposed to 3 bed rooms.

The biggest advantage Triemli has over Limmattal is that there is a specialist unit on site should something go wrong.

Either is a good option.

Triemli recently underwent changes and now every allgemeinversicherter gets a 2 bedroom. https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/triemli...ettenhaus.html

Oh, another advantage to Triemli is that your baby will have "Zürich" on their birth certificate and passport as a place of birth, as opposed to the ghetto that is Schlieren
