Meat is the best way to block you up and make you constipated all the time. For some people this might include fish as canned Tuna is known to contribute to constipation. | | | | | Yes, that would do it.
I think you're supposed to take it out of the can before eating it.

Buy a packet of Oat Bran (or wheat bran) & eat a big tablespoon daily mixed in with mashed fruit (as it has no taste by itself) - excellent roughage.
Bran (husk of the crop) is sold in most shops - costs only about 1 or 2 Chf a 500gr packet.
(Usually it`s given to animals who don`t get too much excercise, like factory farming animals - to prevent constipation - that`s why humans get constipated because the good stuff is kept for animal feed .... )

This thing sometimes happens to me as well as I often eat too fast. So, I learn to eat slower and chew my food
When it happens, I usually drink more water, take more certain dairy products (e.g. low-fat milk, buttermilk, yoghurt), eat dried fruits (e.g. figs, dates) and cereals/oats for breakfast, as well as more veggies (e.g. steamed broccoli). Basically anything that highly contains fiber. I also try not to sit too much and do more exercise |

linseed (I hope this is the right word in English) is very good for constipation. Eat a few spoons a day.

You have to give yourself time. Go and sit on the toilet every morning say 15 minutes after breakfast - for at least ten minutes, if nothing happens just repeat and repeat daily until the body starts to understand what you are doing and what you expect. It's also wrong to think you should go daily, but don't give up but keep to the routine . No matter where you are.

| | Re: anyone on this thread suffer from Constipation problblems | Quote: | | | | | Never actually had constipation. However I often go at least a week without defecation. I just don't need to go.
I seem to have some strange ability to absorb my entire meal. Even if i eat fresh veg, fruit, vindaloo, guiness, prunes.. Nope, just don't need for days, a week even. No food makes me go daily.
I once went nearly 2 weeks and thought i really should do something, went to a pharma and they gave me a tablet, said it would work in a couple of hours.. Jeeeezus, I was walking along the Strand in London when it took effect, i suddenly doubled over, crossed legs, stood still until the mighty contraction stopped.. I then walked (from the knees down) and made it to Charring Cross station, threw open the stall door and produced a tsunami of poo. It felt great! | | | | | This is called constipation.
OP, write down everything you eat for a week and go see a doctor. I had years and years of constipation and diarrhea rounds and found out it was two of many symptoms of hypothyroidism. Since I am on the meds, I am on as efficient as a Swiss clock.
Don't sit too long on the toilet, this is a good way to get hemorrhoids.
Good luck emptying yourself.

NUTS - the one I crack myself seem ok, but the others if I eat in high quantity, seem to have some difficulty going through, though not usually a problem if I am drinking wine at the same time; it is a fruit after all.
Chocolate with all those crushed down nuts, for the life of me, I will never understand why manufacturers like to finely crush the nuts in chocolate. Either keep them whole or none at all is my moto.
Check you diet, drink warm water when you wake up, I drink tea, so that counts for me.

| | Re: anyone on this thread suffer from Constipation problems | Quote: | | | | | Does anyone here suffer from Constipation problems and found a long lasting solution ? A cousin of mine has tried a thousand different pills and drinks but nothing has solved her issue.
Please do share your experenice | | | | | Years ago I did. I was very young and a friend of mine told me her mom used to sit down and put paper on top of her head and that is the way she used to go.
Well, I honestly must to say that I have cured myself with this simple method. I have not suffered from constipation in years and believe it or not I have been telling this to many who laughed and called me crazy but whom when home to secretly tried and it worked. They, themselves, told me.
So here is the scoop if you decide to give it a try, after all it is free and it doesn't have side effects.
*First do not forget to drink plenty of water! - Sit on the toilet and relax. Find a little step stool and elevate your legs up to a comfortable level. If you read normally do that or simply think about what your normally think, SMS, wright an essay, emails etc...
- Put a piece of paper on to of your head, the amount of paper you use will depend on how many days you are backed up. The more days you are falling behind, the more paper you will use.
- It can be any paper, magazine, toilet paper, kitchen paper, paper napkins etc...Sit and relax....Imagine it coming down just as it used to come down really copious some time ago when you stopped going and focus on it but not too hard.
- Pooping must be a pleasure. My Pathophysiology professor used to say "When you you poop and pee, be happy, look up and thank the universe because your system is working! "
- Wait for a long as you can, if it doesn't come out the first time around, it will for sure later on but please do not give up.
Believe in the power of that paper and do it. You will thank me for it.
Good Luck! |

Yes, lots of water (we're supposed to drink 2 liters per day!) and especially drinks made with warm water... like tea.
Warm water can definitely help keep your system flowing. Thanks to my morning coffee, I'm like clockwork. (Because I know you care! )
Also, warm drinks like tea can help keep you healthy because it's really not good to have all that crap (literally!) sitting there inside of you -- the bacteria, etc.
Also, avoid cheese and just too much calcium in general. Calcium itself (not just in the form of cheese) can be constipating.
Not sure if your friend is here in CH, but there is a great product for constipation here called Paragol N that is really mild. It basically lubricates your... insides. And I know there is also a good plant-based one sold in the Apothekes here (I just can't remember what it's called).

The human body needs around 2 litres of water a day, but we get most of it from our food. It's not necessary to drink two litres of water every day.

Would that not be dependent on type of food one eats?

Happy pooping, everyone! | | | | | I was given a sweet syrup in hospital everyday, and I got it in the chemist too. I don't remember what it was called, but was goldern colour syrup, green box I think. Very mild compared to normal laxatives, yet worked pretty quickly!

different as you said if person is eating much fresh fruit/vegetables, there is water content there

What do you mean by and Drinks ie do you mean alcohol or lots or other liquid?
If you mean alcohol, then surely they are dehydrating, also probably not eating correctly.

| | Re: anyone on this thread suffer from Constipation problems | Quote: | | | | | Would that not be dependent on type of food one eats? | | | | | No. Whatever you eat, you need to take in around 2 litres of water a day under normal conditions.
If you eat lots of soup, you'll need to drink less, and vice versa. Unless you're living on dried oats, however, you won't need to drink 2 litres of water.
Indeed the 2 litre figure is a rough average anyway. If it's hot, or you're doing sports or manual labour, you'll need more, many adult men actually need closer to 3 litres, health conditions and metabolism all affect how much water you need.
Basically, you should drink when you feel you need to; don't let yourself get thirsty on a regular basis, but there's no point attempting to meet a target intake, you'll just pee out the excess anyway. The only exceptions really are UTIs, where lots of urine helps flush out bacteria, and constipation, where extra water in the gut helps soften the stools.
