Re: Anybody have Hay Fever yet in 2015

more or less worldwide but more prevalent in certain countries. In Zürich they wait until the growing season for grass is really finished until they cut it. It's too late by then because all the pollens have then been released. Of course they use the cut grass to make something else with it.

Re: Anybody have Hay Fever yet in 2015

Same here omtatsat. I find the grass issue is worse this year. I don't normally have a problem in the summer but now they have started leaving the grasses "natural" here, it seems to have a worse effect. It's not lazy. It's to encourage nature.

Re: Anybody have Hay Fever yet in 2015

It seems worse this year than recent years, the long grass behind where I live was cut on Friday and I've been suffering since I got home yesterday night.

Zyrtec makes you feel even tireder. ...
Wash face + eye brows before bed, don't dry washing outdoors, don't open windows in the evening.
First of all, you should take Zyrtec just before bedtime, then when you wake up the Zyrtec has been "digested" and you are no longer tired during the day. The Zyrtec continues to work during the day.

Another major point is to undress carefully & wash your hair immediately you arrive home, to get rid of the pollen you carried around during the day.

The Coop pharmacy sells a generic brand for Zyrtec, "Cétiricine" which works just as well, and is much cheaper.

Re: Anybody have Hay Fever yet in 2015

thanks for the link but i tried generic equivalent zirtek and it wasn't half as good. it was tesco's as it happens and it put me right off. the price difference of generic here (the ones ive been offered anyway) are 80% of the zirtek price, so I figure might as well use rippy zirtek.

Re: Anybody have Hay Fever yet in 2015

Have you tried the Boots own label one? Cetrizine from Boots keeps me sane - it works...but I guess it depends on how bad your hay fever is... mine tends to get bad with tree polen rather than grass

Re: Anybody have Hay Fever yet in 2015

This year ( 2016 ) no hay fever at all. Guess it was due to the heavy rainfall which got rid of the pollen.

Re: Anybody have Hay Fever yet in 2015

Had some very bad spells of hay fever this year (from late May until mid July) and was forced to take Cetrizine and apply anti-allergic eyedrops. Seems to have subsided now. Someone recommended that the best solution is to have a shower each evening to get rid of the pollen.

Re: Anybody have Hay Fever yet in 2015

Bit of a necro-post, but anyway.

Seem to have avoided any tree pollen effects this year, but the recent hot dry weather and garden that resembles a meadow has seen my sneezing and scratching my eyes like hell the past couple of days with grass pollen. Does anyone know if Xyzal (or generic) is prescription or OTC in Switzerland?

You need a prescription for Xyzal in CH and in Germany. We recently had to purchase a box.

Do you know anyone going to the UK soon? Like you, I was fine last year but back on loratadine now. There's a remote chance I might be in the UK next week, so I'll pm you if I do go.

Re: Anybody have Hay Fever yet in 2015

I have started with hay fever symptoms again this year (hubby too), we are both taking antihistamines.
I just did a stupid thing, our vacuum cleaner died under warranty, so Manor have sent it back to Philips and we have been without one for over a week now. So silly me, just tried sweeping a rug with a hand brush.....I am now coughing and wheezing like an old steam train, I have gone through a pack of tissues in no time, my eyes are streaming and my lungs hurt. Aargh!
