Re: Transexual as a coach

yeah, I would. Sue them for not turning you child prodigy into a genius- hurrah that will help.

You obviously live in the wrong place. Our teachers here regularly discuss strategy and the way forwards, how to team support the kids here- with the parents. What a great bunch they are (the teachers, and most of the kids- and quite a few of the parents )

I figure if a teacher cannot withstand scrutiny and questioning, and are not able to articulate and defend their position, they are probably in the wrong profession.

Some parents though- will not take any reasoning or explanation if little Jonny is not top of the class, and never take any responsibility for anyhting at all. In my teaching career, I only had a few- but talking to younger colleagues, it seems that % is getting larger all the time.

hmm a bit below the belt that (! ) - I suppose a full knee replacement doesn't count? Or was it a lobotomy you were talking about

Fact is, some schools and teachers are better at communicating than others- but here they are particularly good at it, and very approachable, both staff and admin/politicians in charge. We are lucky.

I believe that Miss Marple is referring to Ticino Tom's constant assertions that Ticino is THE place to live and Odile's comment mirroring that sentiment in her post ( albeit a different canton)
For her to turn into Tom she would need 'the operation'.

Unless of course Tom has had it and is just keeping very quiet about it.

Below the belt and above the thighs, to be a little more specific.

You obviously enjoy a job where outsiders don't come and tell you how to do it, even though they may be clueless. Lucky you!

Quite right, a good teacher can defend her / his methodology. An excellent teacher rarely needs to do so, it is obvious from the development, thriving and progress of the pupils and involved parents will see that too.

There is nothing more frustrating though than having to reply to increasing quantities of e-mails from parents who are not particularly involved in their child's education but will fall on the teacher heavily the moment little Johnny did not get a good grade, demanding why, despite a (shared) criteria-based work and full written feedback.

I know I'd much rather teach than become a secretary having to fill in the gaps where some parents did not bother.

Just like teachers, most parents are brilliant, engage in a genuine dialogue (no threat of suing!!) and contribute to a very holistic, constructive education for their kids in partnership with the teachers. I'll join you on agreeing that mutual respect is essential.

Nope, just working for a company that has no managers.

Sort of anarchy style management.

OK, there's a manager for the production people, but not for me.
