Rhinoplasty (nose correction) operations

Hello all,

I need some professional and/or patient advice about Rhinoplasty operations in Switzerland. I already had a plastik surgery from my nose 15 years ago, and after 15 years, I'm in a situation today that I can not breathe at all and I'm again not happy about the look of my nose. After checking with some doctors in my home country, it looks like my nose needs to be built again with some additional cartilage, and it is in the area of a nose-throat-ear doctor (do they have a shorter name in English?) OR a plastic surgent. I have learned sometimes both doctors join the surgery. And the fact that it will be the 2nd operation I will have, they see this more difficult than a 1st time operation.

So, my question here is:

Does anybody have an experience of such a surgery (especially as it will be the 2nd operation)? Are you happy with it? Can you breathe now, and was there any change of the look of your nose?

Thanks for help.

Hi Züricher

You need an otorhinolaryngologist.

I have not had Rhinoplasty but I have had Septoplasty three times. The first two times in Asia and they weren't successful and I was left worse than I started after a build up of scar tissue. I continued to have breathing problems and found Dr Simmen online. He works at ORL Zentrum at Hirslanden and I saw him.
He did the third operation in April last year and I have had no problems since. He is a nice guy and straight talker. He basically said 'you know you need another surgery, and I know its not pleasant so come back to me when you can't stand the discomfort anymore and want the job done properly'

He does rhinoplasty, and I would recommend (even though I didn't have the same operation) him if you are looking for a doctor.Or even a second opinion.

Re: Rhinoplasty (nose correction) operations

I can't help with a suggestion but since you are in the German area you will be looking for a HNO doctor (Hals-Nasen-Ohren-Heilkunde) which is an ear-nose-throat doctor in English.

If you were in the French area it would be an ORL doctor (oto-rhino- laryngologiste).

Edit: HNO - my O was faster than my N finger :-(

As the question was about English, then abbreviation is ENT (ear-nose-throat) specialist.
