divorce - is it possible to get it done without seeing each other?

Hi,

Would this be possible in Switzerland? From what I gather, it's only when you come before a judge that you have to be in the same room together - would it be possible to avoid this?

Thanks heaps.

There are lots of threads on divorce, do a quick search and take a peek to see if any of them answer your question.

I did do a search beforehand and most of the other threads that I saw, dealt with specific circumstances or issues. I couldn't find where to tack this on to. Please move this post it as you see fit.

Thanks.

Maybe it's possible to get lawyer to represent you and your case?

A friend of mine had to go through it and he turned up at the hearing because he wanted to know the details...(rights of the children, amount to be paid etc)

His lawyer did everything else for him...so it might be possible...I am not 100% sure on it.

As far as I am aware, there is not much you can do to avoid the court meeting. You are best off speaking to the people at the relevant courthouse...they can advise you best.

Having been through the court proceedings, it is not a big deal... each party speaks with the magistrate alone, then all three together. You will need to request an interpreter most likely ( I am not sure in divorce cases if the interpreter is paid for by the court or not).
