Importing Medicine as a personal gift

Hi,

Is it possible to import through post, as a personal gift, medicines that would otherwise be allowed in personal baggage? What would be the implications in terms of VAT / customs?

Thanks all.

I believe you can only import medicines personally and then only for your own use, and then only about 30 days supply.
I believe other pharmaceutical imports will be destroyed.

But there are on-line pharmacies, maybe they have the authority?

Re: Importing Medicine as a personal gift

I have imported many times from chmesitdirect .co.uk ..
Stuff that's available in the in the UK .. Parecetemol, cold/flu remedies, vitamins etc etc .. I've done this maybe 6-7 times in 3 years and never had a customs problem, the package arrives truthfully marked. all above board.

Be very careful, if anything is prescription in CH you will end up with a criminal investigation & will spend 1000's in legal fees.

i actually had a big issue with that when I imported fertility pills made from unicorn hair from China. I paid a lot of money for it but the customs destroyed them all
