Sending insulin and Medtronix supplies from the USA to Zurich

My son has diabetes 1, and lives in Kyrgyzstan, where it is difficult to get the supplies he needs. If I have the items sent from the USA to Zurich, will I have problems with customs or will I be taxed on these items?

Most likely yes, unfortunately.

Insulin is much less expensive here in CH than in the US. You would be better off buying it here. Talk to your pharmacist about the need for a prescription, or if s/he would accept one written in Kyrgyzstan.

Canada is likely even less expensive than here, and there are quite a few e-pharmacies that specialise in shipping.

Don't forget insulin needs to be kept cool - at room temperature it's only good for a month, or less. It cannot be frozen either.
