Zurich: IVF Injections/Medications - anyone buy over border DE or AT?

Hello,

Have done IVF in Spain while living in Southern Switzerland. Got meds in Spain and/or over the border in France if really necessary due to the huge costs here in CH.

Now living in North Switzerland. Has anyone been through IVF recently and bought IVF meds over the border in Ge3rmany or Austria? If so, any recommendations where to buy?

Thanks in advance.

I have some IVF medications left after our IVF treatment which was successfull. Knowing how expensive these medicines can be, I want to give them to someone who can really benefit. If you're interested and have prescriptions please PM me.

This is highly irresponsible, you're not a doctor nor a pharmacist, you really should desist.

yes, I'm not a pharmacist, hence I'm not selling them. If you've never gone through IVF process you won't know how expensive these medications can be. What I feel irresponsible is to throw them to trash. My intention is to give it someone for FREE in case this person has a prescription on hand. If someone would do the same to me when I was starting my IVF treatment I would be very grateful.

Hi,

Wish I had known earlier was in a bind over the weekend as needing a few extras dosages but not a FULL package of certain medications.

Very nice of you to post this.

Can you send me a pm to tell me which meds you have & the dosages please? Thanks.

You do know it's a criminal offence to give or sell drugs without having the proper authority, (pharmacist or doctor)

Forget that someone is trying to help someone else out through a random act of kindness, in one of the most stressful situations a couple can encounter...

Yes, very nice, but when you are dealing with drugs and babies and creation, do you really think it's a good idea to take medication from a person who has no right to prescribe it.

Drugs and babies are very delicate, just think at what Thalidomide did and whilst this is not that, a small mistake in the dosage or something gone off or contaminated or wrong dosage take in error can have very BIG consequences.

I can see where you are comming from, but if you start the IVF process then it needs to be followed up properly and if you really can't afford it, then maybe it's not for you, but trying to safe a bit of money in this situation is very risky in my opinion.

You're really comparing a drug previously used as a sedative that had horrific consequences to a fertility treatment?

Sigh.

Let's get back to the OP for a moment, please.

OP has not asked anyone to give her medication. She's asked about where to legally purchase medicines across the border, where it might be cheaper.

Please reply if you can answer this question, and leave the rest out for now or we're headed down a rabbit hole. Thanks.

If you have a prescription then you can go across the border and buy the medicines in any pharmacy that stocks them or will pre-order them for you.

If you try to bring in more than one month's supply then the Customs have the right to confiscate them.

Usually the MWST on medicines is high, certainly most German pharmacies will give you a form to get stamped by the German Customs so you can later claim the money back.

If you ask your medical adviser then they will often give you good advice on over the border purchasing like price levels, good suppliers, etc.

And in fairness to the person who offered the medication she did ask to see a prescription for them so she wasn't just going to hand them out willy nilly to any random person who wanted them.

Yup, Today Only was just wilfully ignoring what was written and offered.

Re: Zurich: IVF Injections/Medications - anyone buy over border DE or AT?

Also, just to say...

Even WITH a prescription from the IVF clinic (not in CH which many people choose to do BTW) AND working inconjunction WITH the GYNY here in CH, it is a difficult and stressful process. Often without the gyny and pharmacies here in CH being able to obtain the relevant medications (to be taken at specific times) at short notice.

The process is based around cycle/hormone levels etc therefore sometimes unpredictable. It is possible to have to extend expected treatment for a few days - which if landing over the weekend can prove difficult to obtain necessary meds - which the person below offering (with prescription) to possibly help in a difficult and already expensive process - clearly understands.

There is a big difference in the cost of meds - which if not covered by the health insurance (if my case) are really expensive. E.g. in Spain €1000 for all meds required. Here 500CHF for ONE injection pen. Karyotype test €95 in Spain vs 8/900CHF's here. Not to mention that other countries seem to be further ahead in the IVF treatments than here in CH. So best to reserve judgement on why people go abroad for IVF treatment - it is not only about cost.

The whole process/cycle could be wasted if you cannot obtain maybe one doseage (again to be taken at specific times) which would just be heartbreaking. I thought the offer was a kind & thoughtful one. And yes, people must be careful when giving/taking any meds from others
