Re: Young children bullying

Hello Pencil,

I witnessed a boy being pushed to the ground and kicked along with another woman at my apartment complex. The mother asked us to write a letter saying what we saw because the offending two boys (who are both older and larger) mother didn'tbelieve it. Both mothers came to my apartment yesterday morning. The one tried to argue with me. I asked her to stop because the conversation was going nowhere. Partially because I don't speak German and partially because I wasn't going to agree with her stance that it wasn't youth violence. She proceeded to stomp off and write a four page letter in response.

So when you say dealing with the parents gets you no place, you are exactly right, even when you have two adults who are willing to come forward! Here is the real kicker. The children being attacked are Spanish, the older one is handicap! The parent claims that WE are the racists! You know because it was my goal to come here, find a couple of other foreigners and see what we could stir upin the fondue.

There is always a bigger bully. My goal was to bring it to ALL the parents’attention so THEY could deal with it. Instead I'm waiting to see the nextperson to knock on my door about it. If coming forward helps a child INCLUDING the bullies, then it was worth it. Sadly, I think my actions did more harm by enraging a mother in denial. I hope your situation has a peaceful close.
