Dentist Recommendation for Zurich Please!

Hello everybody! Even though I have been living in Zurich for a little over 2 years, I still don't have a dentist here. I've always preferred going for dental check-ups and teeth cleanings when I visit home. However, I recently chipped my tooth and would like to get it fixed ASAP. (I think it's about time I find a dentist here anyway.) My German is still not quite there yet so English speaking is a must for me. Does anybody have any recommendations?

It is better option to go in Germany (Jestetten or Waldshut-Tiengen), it's so much cheaper than here.

Dr Marcus Mettler. He is super and runs a great practice in Bellevue. I used to hate going to the dentist, but he really put me at ease and has gradually been fixing all the shoddy work done in the UK. He also never suggests unnecessary work and talked me out of getting veneers.
Pricey though, but I guess that should be expected.

Re: Dentist Recommendation for Zurich Please!

We use Cosmodent - and no, cost for me is not the factor, it's service, professionalism and efficiency. Teeth cleaning costs around 200-250chf, once per year for adults. The kids are cheaper... they have a great woman dentist - Dr Zimmerman, who works with the kids, and for the adults generally we see whoever is available if it is 'routine' - or I am doing implants with Dr Glauser. Dr Glauser is definitely not going to be the cheapest, as by reputation he is the top implant dentist in Zurich... but he's very clear, very professional and very efficient, and I wanted to feel safe about having dental surgery...Edited to add: English is no problem...

Zahncity near Europalle are really good...Dr Praus speaks great English and explains everything really well. If you need any work doing he will give you a quote and twice I've had the final bill being less than the quote. Very impressed with the work he's done!

Re: Dentist Recommendation for Zurich Please!

I'm also looking for a dentist as I was recently pregnant and need to catch up on dental work.

Someone in a Canadians in Switzerland forum posted about being denied dental surgery for being Canadian (Canadians, Australians and Americans are apparently all being denied nonemergency surgery). I'm a bit concerned because we have an infant that doesn't have his canadian passport yet (trip to Canada is out) and driving to Germany seems like really bad timing with a baby right now.

Does anyone know anything about this? My old dentist has moved so I need a new one, but I have had extensive dental work in the past due to an accident and may need a crown repaired.

Hi
I need a crown fitting and have had a quote from my English dentist. Does anyone have a rough price of any work they have had done here so I can decide whether to fly back and have it done please? Don't fancy travelling over to Germany.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, Cosmodent at Zurich main train station. They will give you a clear, itemisised quote. You can phone and ask them - the receptionist speaks great English.

However, if you have not had your teeth cleaned and checked, you might need to do that first as part of your 'assessment' of the work needed..and that usually costs around 200-300chf including an x ray or two.

Can you pay for a cleaning without them actually doing it? I refuse to do polishing any more. Every time I get my teeth polished, they're sensitive to cold and hurt for a month.

I'm still trying to find a decent dentist.

NotSwissEnough, the likely cause of your sensitivity is that the place you are going to for dental cleaning uses a very abrasive polishing paste. It is convenient as you remove all the stains in a short amount of time, rather than having to polish longer, but you also remove more of the enamel surface and increasing the tooth's sensitivity.

And if you don't mind the 30 min train ride from Zurich, you can visit us in our practice in Cham. :-)

I don't think this is it. Every place I've gone in three countries has resulted in the same reaction in the last ten years. I just want to skip it, besides, i have no stains on my teeth and the 15-minute scaling is enough.

Thanks, Sweetpea! Yes, we all speak English at Cosmodent and are conveniently located ACROSS the street from Zurich’s Main Train Station, ABOVE Franz Karl Weber’s toy store.

As an American dental hygienist, I am EXTREMELY picky about the quality of dental care and the gentleness. I can sincerely recommend all of our dentists. We are two American hygienists ( Susan Schlessinger and Marlena Maizar) and four Swiss hygienists ( Heidi , Olivier, Roberta and Susi). We have ONLY fully qualified DHs ( dental hygienists) .

Since I have worked in five countries and four languages, I have personally experienced numerous styles of dentistry.” I encourage any patient to search for preventive oriented and minimal invasive dental professionals. A professional cleaning is the best investment you can ever make and a relationship with a dedicated hygienist should be your best advocate for a healthy smile! 9829;65039;

I second this one! Reasonably priced, solid work, conservative suggesting work to be done, friendly & gentle!

For teeth cleaning though Susan at Cosmodent is the BEST hygienist I came across in my life 128077;127995;10084;65039;
