| | 2018 Health Check Cost
Having not been to a doctor in over twenty years and also hitting the big 50 next year, I decided to book in for a health check (Zurich). The receptionist explained that I would first come in for a blood check, X-ray, EKG test and then I would see the doctor a few days later to discuss the results. The cost given was CHF400 for the lab work and CHF1,000 for the doctors appointment. I cannot help but feel this is a bit excessive!
Has anyone else been for a men's health check recently, who can give me an idea of average costs?
Many thanks,
John

If you've not been yet, could you "shop around"? If you get similar pricing elsewhere then you will at least know it's eye-wateringly expensive as standard.
Otherwise, call your health insurance and ask if they can contribute towards it in any way. Obviously you'll have to stump up your franchise/excess and not all heath insurances will pay for ad hoc check ups but you could always ask.

Not a direct comparison.. But I had a full check up at a cardio doc. Couple of consultations, bloods, EKGs, stress test on bike, 24hr monitor, results etc.
Cost was ~800 i think.. insurance paid. Was a bit over a year ago i think.

It feels to me like the doc appointment is a bit expensive, but I don’t know how much of his/her time the OP is getting. Otherwise, it’s in the right ballpark.

Could someone recommend an English speaking doctor for a health check in Zurich or Zug?
Same situation as OP - nothing wrong (that I know of) but getting old and think its time for a general check for things such as cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes etc.

How very timely! I have just walked in the door from my health check! In the end I went to Dr. Angela Caddick, who is in the Opera house area, and I am happy with my choice (was recommended by a friend). I don't have the full cost yet but will post when I know.

John | | | | | Thanks. I saw that she came recommended here on the forum so I tried to book an appointment by email but did not get an answer - I will try to give her a call instead.
