Things to do with kids in St Gallen

Hello,

I'm looking for suggestions of things to do with small kids in the St Gallen area, especially when it's raining. I have a two year old and would love to take her to an indoor play park, for example, but they seem to be mostly in Zurich. I would travel a little bit - to Wil, Winterthur, etc. I know there's not much in St Gallen - unless there's something I don't know about!

Angela

Hi, you wrote at 12.41 and still haven't had a reply?
I don't know where our Far East Local Representative (far east of Switzerland that is) has got to.
S U T T E R, where are you?
Sutter has visitors at the moment so she is possibly in one of the places she would recommend to you if she had seen your post. She'll probably be able to come up with something. I'll PM her to make sure she doesn't miss your question.
Be patient and happy hunting.

In that case, until our 'Far East Local Representative' is around again, I hope it doesn't rain as I'm out of ideas

Everyone I've spoken to so far says the only indoor play area is in McDonalds, near Marktplatz

Apparently there is also one in Dornbirn, Austria. Does anyone know exactly where this is?

You can be entertained for the whole day at Säntispark in Abtwil
And if you are a Migro member you get a discount.
Fun for people of any age.

And a ride on the Appenzeller Bahn to Appenzell and back has surely got to be fun. Such a pretty train.

Kids En-Force has loads of things to do for kids of all ages. Here's their list for St Gallen (German)

Sorry not been on the forum for a while been busy with my family, we went to conny Land yesterday.

Ok yes the Santis park is good (was there on Saturday) they have a brilliant pool for familys.

You can always come over to my place for a coffee, i have lots of neighbours with small children so we could make a play date.

I can pm you details of a club i am with for mothers, and children that meet every other wednesday if you like.

Re: Things to do with kids in St Gallen

Try the amazing Technorama in Winterthur. The kids will love it. At 11.30 and 2.30 they do live demos of gases and electricity. The gas one is great fun, but the electric one is great because if you stay behind after the demo they let you "touch" a lightning bolt and freak out your hair on a Van derGraaf machine! Ask at both demos for an English language handout. Easily enough for a two days visit.

The galleries in Winthertur are stunning. To make it interesting for kids, do some research and get them to do a treasure hunt finding pictures containing certain objects or get them to copy a painting they like.

If the weather is good, go up the mountains at Pizol or Wildhaus - Wildhaus has a great toboggan run.

On a nice day, do the Heidiland walk in Maienfeld. We have done it with a 6yo, even starting the walk in Bad Ragaz. Talking of Bad Ragaz, which is also in canton St Gallen, the spa is amazing and pretty kid friendly.
