I have been to a GP now I am scared of the bill

Hi,

I have been to see a GP today (Vaud), that was lovely little visit. I had a chat with the GP, an examination, a chest x-ray and another little chat with the GP.

I am essentially insured 3rd party fire and theft, my excess is 1500 CHF.

What sort of bill should I be expecting? roughly about 100 CHF or 1000 CHF?

Cheers

Lydia

What have fire and theft insurance to do with health insurance? You have that, do you?

Re: I have been to a GP now I am scared of the bill

I recommend that you phone the GP's practice, and ask the receptionist what the fees will be. Then you'll know for sure. Knowing the facts (even if they are unpleasant) can often dispell fear.

Re: I have been to a GP now I am scared of the bill

definitely more than 100 CHF. Could be 400 to 700 CHF.

If you took blood samples and things and a lab will get involved you could get into low-end three figures.

Re: I have been to a GP now I am scared of the bill

The prize is pride.

I am going for 666 CHF (the bill of the devil) - arriving in September (in time to eat my yearly pay increase).

Surely you know what you are insured for for against sickness and accident insurance?
You need to be insured against both.

What's the gap - how can we help with more information

Let me translate .. Third party fire and theft = UK most basic cheapest car insurance.. In reference to the OP having a high deductible here, cheapest policy..

OP will therefor have to pay the full bill, no insurance contribution and wonders what it will cost. Because it's normal here to just not bother to ask and wait for the bill.

Did i get that right?

Wrong!

Most basic insurance in the UK is 3rd party only! (Granted itís not always offered and a lot of insurance only offer 3FT as the most basic)

And the OP has a 1500chf deductible which is not the most basic Swiss health insurance hence the addition of the fire and theft options.
I like her sense of humour.

1500 isn't cheapest, 2500 is.
