Re: CBD oil / Snake oil ?

Two decades ago did I work for a year in disabled people care (instead of army service). Many of them took illegal weed as a muscle relaxant. Pretty sure the stuff also contained thc, but the patients were mostly looking for the cbd. I don’t know if the legal stuff is worth it, but cannabis clearly worked for a lot of people with chronic muscle pain, for example MS patients. Those were not looking to get high at all... they were just looking for alternatives to the pills they’d normally get and which had a lot of side effects.

38.- honestly is not much if it works. Chronic inflammation pain is so debilitating- so I'd give it a go... oh and report back, would love to know.

Re: CBD oil / Snake oil ?

For inflammation... Make sure your vitamin D levels are proper, all year-round, because a lack of vitamin D causes your body to produce pro-inflammatory cytokines.

How vitamin D inhibits inflammation

https://www.sciencedaily.com/release...0223103920.htm

I use to get muscle aches all the time and then once I was put on high-dose vitamin D to bring my levels up to normal, all those aches and pains went away.

Also, magnesium is awesome for muscle aches as well as anxiety (it's also necessary for our bodies to properly metabolize vitamin D). It works on the body like a mild muscle relaxer.

I've tried CBD oil and CBD weed before but didn't notice anything. I know some people swear by it, though.

Serrapeptase is also used for inflammation.

Re: CBD oil / Snake oil ?

CBD in general can work for some people and not work on others , it depends on what you are treating and also it depends on the dose and the products that you are using, some cbd companies sell snake oil( actual cbd content far lower than what is labeled, or isolate cbd which is not efficient and cheaper to.produce) what you need is a full spectrum cbd oil( meaning nothing get refined or stripped from the plant , it also carry on the THC ( less than 1% which doesn't make you high) and other component (terpenes , minor cannabinoids and flavonoids).
Also you need to figure out the dose that you need ( few drops will not make a difference) start slow like a quarter of a dropper under the tongue because it gets absorbed faster and see how you feel, maybe adjust as you go.
I see cbd as a support to your system, it acts on your endocannabinoid system ( a sort of balance mecanism that produce his own cbd within your body), external cbd taken under the tongue can help the endocannbinoid system to balance out and helps you feel good. I found a few good blogs about the subject

I tried CBT oil a couple of times 18 months ago & spent hours on the toilet. I tried both before covid Jan 2000 & after covid February 2000. At the time COVID was still in China, however I don't think I will try again.

Re: CBD oil / Snake oil ?

After searching and lots of reading, I ended up at a local hanf store for consultation and answers to my questions.

Reason I decided to visit the store is the overwhelming number of brands, percentages, prices and other items such as the base oil.

After half an hour in the local store, I bought a 10 ml bottle of 20% CBD oil based on hanf oil. Plus they offer an attractive rebate.

Along with my doctor we have tried several things to minimize or remove the migraines that I have experienced over many years now. Now my doctor is out of options and suggested CBD oil. Unfortunately, there is no financial support from the Krankenkasse, yet. [waiting on VA decision on whether service related disability will be awarded or not, migraines are a symptom of GWI]

Usage of the 20% CBD oil is still in the first few days. Kicking dosages off with 3 x 3 drops a day. I have not yet noticed any relief. Nothing noticed after five to six days and I plant to increase the dosage to 3 x 5 drops.

Any other suggestions or personal experiences with CBD oil?

There is no scientific evidence that proves that CBD is an effective treatment for migraines.

I guess if you mix it with THC, it would be more effective.

If you used enough THC then I suppose you could have a migraine and not care about it.

Genuinely interested - my son suffers from migraines.

Re: CBD oil / Snake oil ?

I've had lower-back pain for some 10 years, and after multiple treatment options (physio, laser, accupuncture, chiropractor, etc) recommended by my doctors and wife/family/friends, I gave CBD a shot. I followed everyone's instructions, increasing dosage slowly, and long story short...same as water for me. Other than freshly-cut weed breath, I didn't get anything out of it, other than I was 80 bucks lighter. YMMV.

Re: CBD oil / Snake oil ?

I am 69 and have back pains. I have a pinched nerve. A few years ago it was recommended to have an operation. Instead I started to do stretches in the morning and it is much better. I have come to realize that this is just a part of age. Stretching and walking or swimming is the best.

I think that cannabis is a problem. Unless it is controlled and seen as only short term. I smoked grass when I was younger. I always remember after smoking a joint it was screw it and just sit. I see a lot of apathy in people. Drugs and alcohol are a big problem today.

I try to avoid all medications as much as possible. When a dr. suggests a med I ask why and if there is an alternative. I also do my research. Many meds haver a lot of negative side effects. Big pharma and the Drs are making big bucks from the meds. Actually I heard of a Dr. being pushed by the senior Dr. to push the meds.

Not really true here. Doctors are not allowed to receive any bonus or gifts from pharma companies for prescribing their drugs.
If you know of such a case, you should report it.

Homeopathic 'treatments' aren't medicines and don't have controlled pricing so profit margins are so much higher so if anything will be pushed to you, it will be homeopathic nonsense.

I do agree though that people pop too many pills here. There's new evidence that ibuprofen does nothing for chronic pain.

Well... CBD falls currently under homeopathic nonsense... as it isnt sold as a controlled medication. The oil is sold through some loopholes as mouthwash and similar.

I think I posted this before:

Good luck with the VA. They're absolutely infuriating to deal with.

As for the CBD question, I've had good luck with the broad-spectrum high cbd, low THC oil (40:1) , and no luck with the hemp-based oil. I suspect that it has something to do with the deep sleep I get on the 40:1. Lack of sleep is a migraine trigger for me.

Re: CBD oil / Snake oil ?

One thing is for sure ... medicines, whether the hard stuff or the alternative natural based stuff ... deliver different reactions with different people. As learned when reading the included fine print with diverse medicines, is there are so many ifs, whens and buts. Honestly the could be's, would be's and should be's can be totally confusing!

Trying the CBD oil is truly the last attempt to find relief from these headaches/migraines. Some have tried CBD oil to find relief from tinnitus. I surely do not expect anything with regards to tinnitus I have. Have had it so long and tried so many things, there is no way around it. Specialists and doctors told me to find a way to live with it.

Thanks MegsB, being here in Europe, the VES has been a big support getting VA things done. Either they make an appointment at a VA accredited doctor in Vicenza, Italy or they send the order for medical tests (lung test, MRI, lung X-Rays). The payment for the tests is always received within ten days of submitting the invoice. As for any increases ... still waiting

Appreciate all the feedback from everybody. Good to read what the results of the individual situations with CBD oil brought. Of course, if I were able to add a little THC to the oil, the results would be better - at least different. In my younger days, as well, the THC usage was for a different reason. If I could have only a little of that from earlier ... sure would be nice

BTW, no affect during the second day. Will give this a fair chance to help.

Re: CBD oil / Snake oil ?

To add a quick update ... the headaches have gone from constant 5-7/10 and hammer migraines of 9-10/10 to constant 3-5/10 and the migraines still peak high, but do not last as long.

Brief summary after a good month of 20%, raised to 30% after two weeks, positive results. Will keep on the CDB oil and hope the VA gets off their duff soon ... because this 30% CDB is damn expensive!

One thing for sure, there as been zero relief in my screaming tinnitus.

CBD is hemp based. Hemp and cannabis are the same thing.

There are good Swiss CBD products: always check that it is an organic, Swiss product. You can usually ask in the shop for a copy of the analysis if you are buying your CBD as a food item.
