I wasn't aware though they are not equipped for all scenarios and might move the baby to the Kantonsspital, that changes things. I emailed them but what exactly are they missing?
Sorry, missed this question. I don't believe they have the surgical facilities, in case you have a complicated birth and require a c-section, for instance. (This is what I recall)

We gave birth at Klinik im Park, also a Hirslanden clinic, but there they do have a theater (operating, not arts!) right next to the delivery rooms. (Which was great, as we had an extremely complicated birth)

They obviously do c-sections, spinal anesthesia if needed etc., because this is birth clinic and not the coffee shop. Another misleading info from you in this thread.

I emailed the Klinik today to ask, I don't think in Switzerland you are allowed to deny general ward services in general, private or public. It wouldn't make sense either as they'll lose a lot of money. Obviously they have those spicy extras that people add that are quite profitable.
So, it seems I was wrong and that you can give birth there on the most basic insurance and, what was correctly pointed out, levels of private insurance just provides you extras, like better food, private rooms etc.
