Hernia surgery and Hospital invoices

Hi guys, I was expecting an approx. 1000 chf invoice after my surgery I early Feb. (300 franchise + 10% max 700 chf) but I only received one invoice of only 500, what would mean the surgery only cost around 3-4K which is definitely too low... do you think this is correct or should I expect another invoice? (i.e. Hospital stay / surgeon / anesthesist...) or am I confused on how this is calculated?

Thanks

Check the description of care on the invoice. This should tell you what has been charged, and what might still be outstanding.

Both times I had surgery here I got the bills in dribs and drabs over the next six months. Some were sent directly to the insurance, but a few came to me directly.

Thank you both, I didn't receive any invoice, the only one I got was directly charged to my bank account by the health insurance with only the name of the hospital... but good to know more invoices may arrive in the next 6 months... interesting such an inefficient way of billing... thanks again

I would check with your insurance company as to the procedures they apply when charging or reimbursing health care charges. You should be informed of this in writing. And, yes, the bills continue to arrive! Check them carefully to ensure there is no duplication.

Re: Hernia surgery and Hospital invoices

How do you know it‘s too low? For example, I had a total knee replacement, 4 nights in the hospital, it was just about chf 9000. A lumpectomy, one night in hospital was about chf 6000.

But it is true that bills come in spurts. My hospital bills came 2-3 months after surgery, although I received one for the period I was hospitalized. Might depend on your insurer.

You do pay something like chf 15/night for basic board.
