Snot is a marvellous substance, trapping nasty visitors and removing them inexorably from one's nasal passages.

Sinuses are great as long as they don't have tumours in them. They tend to make one feel a little uncomfortable. But otherwise, they prevent us from dying by slow suffocation.

Human anatomy is wonderful!

Although I do wonder about the spleen sometimes.

The OP prefers shrooms.

Not for a bad cold/sinus infection, for sure.

Alternating paracetamol and anadin- Carmol drops and inhalations- going the full hog.

Humans have several sinuses ó air-filled cavities that help with drainage of mucus and fluid. But our maxillary sinuses, located on our cheekbone, drain upwards. This often leads to the build-up of fluids and mucus, which can cause an infection.... so stupid design, for sure.

Totally agree. The best way to avoid having someone sit next to you on the train is to start honking your nose loudly and sniffling. :D Forget putting your backpack on the seat, snotty tissues actually scare people away. :p

That made me laugh out loud.

Snot is indeed very useful, itís just rather unpleasant and itís very early in the season to be having a cold already.

I've had a couple recently, but they were only Swiss colds, so.

Actually, apart from one day- we had quite pleasant weather last couple of weeks, and quite mild too.

Indeed, if you think that cold and wet weather causes colds, you are.

I know they say that and it probably is, but it certainly does not help :)

Is this like the "urine is sterile" nonsense?

Time to renew that lapsed subscription to the BMJ, eh? ;)

She never said that, she said mildew which is a fungus and not related to the cold at all. Mildew thrives in cold damp conditions.

Lots if people around with colds who pass it on to others, nothing to do with the weather.
