| | Ear piercing for babies
Hello everyone,
does anybody have an idea on where I can have my daughter's ears pierced. She's just a month old. Back in my country we always have this done in the hospital immediately after birth. But it seems that's not the case here.
Thank you all in advance.

.... it might be a cultural thing.... but maybe you should wait until your daughter can decide for herself if she wants this!

According to this thread, some pharmacies do it. Even so, I'm not sure they would pierce a baby's ears, but it's worth asking. https://www.englishforum.ch/other-ge...-zurich-2.html |

Apparently its done this why in some South American countries.
AFAIK there is no direct law in Switzerland which would forbid it. But it is recommended to wait at least till age of 5 when the child is able to express its own wishes. https://www.tagesanzeiger.ch/schweiz...story/24739156 https://www.20min.ch/schweiz/bern/st...erden-25238414
Next to the potential risk of an infection it might be that the general conscience changes and the girl could in the future sue against the parents because of bodily harm and irreversible damages.

Just don't and wait till the kid knows what is going on and can decide him/herself.
Also I think Switzerland is not excluded from those Western countries where people who pierce a baby are viewed by many as a "special" type of social class to say it tactically.
Even in a lot of countries where it is not rare to do this there is a growing movement of people who think that parents should not slam holes in their kids and have an unpractical piece of metal through it simply because "it looks so cute" or "but it is custom" (it also once was custom to chop people apart with an axe on the marketsquare...)

Tom | | | | | It's very common in NW UK too and often done before the baptism.
My nan was always on at my mum to get my ears "bored" so that she could buy earrings for me, but I didn't do it til I was 21.

And what is it with the <<it also once was custom to chop people apart with an axe on the marketsquare.>>?! Seriously!
OP did not ask "how do you feel if I ....." but where it could be done.
Unfortunately I can't answer that, I'd ask the paediatrician I guess. Tom, where is it done in Italy?
Done in Peru as well. The advice waiting for the vaccinations being done sounds good to me.

We are not barbers barbarians. We took a wagon wheel, crushed all their bones, weaved them through the spokes, put the wheel on the pole, where the ravens and red kites could pick and feast on the still living body. We also decapitated using the sword and later using the Guillotine. Or people where hung on (or is it from?) wooden or stone gallows.
You might enjoy a visit to the Henker Museum Sissach http://www.henkermuseum.ch/ or a bit less gruesome a hike to the reerected stonen gallow of the Aarburg high court http://www.burgenseite.ch/galgen-aarburg.html

First act as parents: let's risk an infection by unnecessarily piercing our infant's ears, in the meantime having the baby scream its lungs out from the pain...for.no.good.reason.whatsoever.
There's no law for irresponsible parents. Culture or not this is simply stupid and you should be ashamed.
At the very least, discuss it with your pediatrician first and get their medical opinion before doing anything. https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/news...t-ear-piercing https://www.heart.co.uk/lifestyle/pa...ns-infections/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infant...s_for_Children
Just....why?
You are supposed to protect them from harm.

So should I get my son's ear pierced before or after I have him circumcised? /s
Edited to add: no need to wait for vaccinations. Not having him vaccinated, they cause autism.

Is there anywhere in Zurich where you can get a tattoo for a baby girl? She's three months old.
I'm asking for a friend.
They don't want this to be controversial so were thinking of something like a "My little pony" on her shoulder, Elsa from Frozen on her arm or perhaps a "Hello Kitty" on her ankle.
Thanks

Tom | | | | | It is done in CZ, too.
ORL MDs do it there, too.
Honestly, OP - I'd call an ORL if I were you, they will tell you where and if to do it.
