The mortgage payments pause is interesting indeed, what happens next? https://twitter.com/Reuters/status/1237322420534591489

And no, taking supplements if you're within the recommended range is not "a good idea". If you think you're suffering from low levels then get checked out by your doctor and take supplements if recommended, otherwise it's just a waste of money, time and resources.
That.
Me-northern European, blood tests always show that I'm fine for vitamin D but have a borderline iron deficiency. Manage that with diet.

OH-Greek, blood tests always show him to have a deficiency when he's living in northern Europe, despite him habitually eating at least 5 pieces of fruit per day. Has been taking vitamin D supplements for several years. Recently had to double his dose based upon blood test results in December, and this is being monitored by his doctor.

I have never seen the Swiss queuing .. Do you use public transport?
The old, sick or infirm are pushed out of the way in the battle for the train door..

But sure, there's also no concept of personal space in the real CH..
Geneva is just 60% Swiss and half of those are not Genevoise. Many Swiss wouldn't consider public transport. (other than the old, sick or infirm)

I find the frontaliers to be the worst queuers and the most rude.

Well at least they kept it under 500 so that we still don't look too bad on the BBC's maps.
So who's taking bets as to when we all get locked down? Or will it be a partial lockdown with Tom and his neighbours first?

Yup

And zero reason to assume the numbers will not go up much further.

The disease itself is one thing, the social and economic impact are going to be huge. More and more things get cancelled and around the globe more and more borders are being closed. Austria is going to close the border with Italy (passage only with doctors declaration), Kazachstan stops allowing people from Germany, Spain, France and Italy from entering the country, Israel is kicking out all tourists and starts locking up the borders, etc.. etc..

At this rate, I'd give it another month or so.

I don't think they will bother, they will let nature take it's course, life will go on & this will be forgotten soon.

Define lockdown?

I'd be surprised if by the end of next week public transportation in this country is still up and running.

Just regarding that... What about all the medical staff, emergency services and utilities workers who don't have their own car?

Well, Switzerland tends to be a tad bit slower when it comes to taking precautionary measures.

By lockdown I mean the same as what Italy has just implemented. I'm with blueangel on this, about a week and a half I think.

Those of importance to the situation can locally be put in hotels and such, those things are starting to run empty anyway, if shit really hits the fan they'll be hardly at home anyway.

Asking a population to confine itself would be a contra-diction with keeping public transportation up.

Just seen a graph which shows Switzerland as 13 days behind Italy in terms of outbreak.
