Well, that's precisely what I'v been saying for years now. It starts with nurses/doctors not wearing gloves etc. not adhering to WHO standards. The system set in place in the 60s and 70s is archaic at best. The Swiss have this false notion, that the system is infallible meanwhile never really having to withstand any test of time. You can clearly see a difference in how cases are handled. The U.S. closed its border to China long before Europe took such measures. They suspected a Corona case at a school and they disinfected the entire premise. I've just heard of a confirmed Corona case at a popular retailer, all employees were sent home but the public is not informed. Transparency, precaution and control makes a huge difference.
...I suspect you will find over the next 10 days it actually will make little difference. By the time a case is suspected it's usually done most of its transmission to others.

Ireland has about 40 cases and has closed all schools, knee jerk reaction or a timely intervention? Time will tell.
- Bring the Curve down.
- Follow the Italian Curve.

Which option do you think is best?

Given incubation times all people with symptoms that are known are a reflection of the situation like a week ago and do not reflect todays spread.

Bring the curve down of course, closing schools is no harm. For any further measures it'll be intersting seeing as Irelands respect for the law is nuanced at best.
The official warning level has gone from "It's grand" to "careful now", when it hits "ah shite" it'll be interesting.

The sandbox has just been renovated, all sand renewed.
Glad to see my landlord believes in a future existence of the human race (and the future need of tax-deductions).

As expected, they won't close the schools/kindergartens...at least not in canton Zurich. They (Gesundheitsdirektion) fear the kids might go to grandparents during this period and infect the grandparents. (I am not kidding)
Interesting experiments here.

Btw, most people I know work from home these days, but hey ho. It is what it is.

I suggest that individuals interested in these scientifically proven methods against the common cold and flu ... actually READ and try to understand everything noted in that post.
As a counter-suggestion - don't waste your time, it's all complete nonsense.

why would a doctor wear gloves to speak to you- surely s/he will wear gloves if he examines you (but not if simply taking blood pressure or listening to chest with stetoscope)...

A friend from the US has just told me he cancelled his trip to Switzerland supposed to take place at the end of August. Sensible or plain daft?
Hmm.......sensible?

Re: Coronavirus

Let's say we put less focus on the death numbers, I'm more curious about how many active/closed cases developed Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis(thething that leaves permanent scars)? I can't seem to find any reports/statistics.

This is not to cause panic, the more we understand about the virus the less fear.

But is it idiopathic if there is a known cause?

Any particular reason for quoting this generalization?
Its not a slam against the Dutch, although if you don't know the reference, it appears to do so.

the joke is that people think they are not saying racist things and then they say shite like this.

I believe it was being used to reference the sudden fear of Chinese (and now Italians)

or

HairyBadger really hates the Dutch...

I thought it would be widely-enough known to not need explanation. Sorry to all the Dutch who were offended by it - that was not my intention. Is this where I say that some of my best friends are Dutch?
