Re: Coronavirus

Going out tomorrow lunch for OH's 74th- local restaurant has limited number of tables so there is more space - hopefully reall nice steak- then, that's it.

Will try to do first ever HyperU online order and collect- and see how it goes- and use local shops and all the out of date stuff in our cupboards, and finally empty the large freezer. Bring it on.

I truly hope for you both that the restaurants are still open in your (our) canton until then, and wish Mr Odile all the very best for his 74th!

Husband suggesting we may need to get food delivered at some point if this keeps up. Looked at Migros' Le Shop and there's an hour's queue to place an order with the earliest delivery on Thursday, 26th March.

Who else does online ordering and delivery just in case it's needed? Can't see that Coop do it and don't know of any other supermarkets that do.
Coop do. I just placed an order today but as Zurirolt referenced they seem overwhelmed and the earliest delivery as of this morning was the 23rd when I placed my order....

Re: Coronavirus

I don't know who took the initiative for this site, but tbh it is a drama due to lack of proper fb groups moderation, I checked 3 groups and no adds of help wanted or needed but just advertisement that we should take in more refugees.

This will only work if people who know how to run such take control, else it be one huge mess.

If people are still so dumb I'd say put a fence around it and let nature do its work.

Restaurants are allowed to remain open until 14h at the latest tomorrow in our canton (Neuch‚tel) so Mr Odile s birthday celebration will be one of the last meals they serve for a while.

Those that warned of how dangerous this was were not taken too seriously. Thereís a lesson in there somewhere I think!
I agree. But different people have different experiences with times of crisis, the time one takes to imagine the unimaginable or accept or acknowledge the risk, it almost always brings some anxiety. Plus - decisions and opinions change fast, I call that progress.

And just now, writing this in one window as I place an order, it's the same lead time on delivery.

Not to mention the two, sorry, three - no four server timeouts as I went through the checkout process.

Forget it for now...

Tbh many of us grew-up with parents that had just survived WW2. Jewish or not (yes, my Mom was Jewish). I kinda grew-up thinking that cooked liver and bone marrow broth etc. was not something to turn your nose up to (although I did, and no wonder that Iím vegetarian since the age of 21).

I really think that this is a shock to all of us. Itís all developing at an incredible rate. I am also feeling quite overwhelmed as a parent - how do I remain strong, make the right role-model etc etc, when even I am completely dumbstruck and frightened by the developments .

Re: Coronavirus

Talking about restaurant. Me and my partner are a fast food restaurant owner in Lausanne, employing 3 workers . Schools closures is already a disaster for us, because most of our customers are kids from secondary schools and above , but restaurant closures means that Iím completely out of income.
How the heck Iím going to pay the bills, already have like 20000ch to pay at the end of March just for work place. Still need to pay salaries and house bills plus of course you need to have some money just for living. We are family of 5.
Any solution for this? What me and other in similar situation should do?

I have no knowledge in running a restaurant, but restaurants in Hong Kong are in a similar situation, some of them decided to adapt their menus into takeout deliveries, do some promotions in your neighbourhood, not sure if it's legal or possible here, have your 3 workers deliver them, or a little discount if they pick up the food themsleves.

I had read that Disney World had closed (or maybe it's just that it's going to be closing). I think that there are still a lot of people in the US who aren't taking this very seriously right now because it hasn't hit close enough to home for them yet. It's just something they're reading about in the news, etc. and maybe there hasn't been any confirmed cases near them at this point. It will be different, I think, in another few weeks once the reality of it really sinks in. I sometimes go on US news sites and have seen some people commenting there that the virus is some of kind of hoax or conspiracy to try to keep Trump from being re-elected. It's weird.

Put everyone from your company on partial or full chŰmage immediately. This is what affected businesses are doing at the moment

Well, stay tuned in the next minutes, and watch the fun:

“Inside the White House presidential aides are getting ready for “a News Conference by the CoronaVirus Task Force”, as Trump put it in a tweet, at 17:00EST (21:00 GMT).

Meanwhile, airports across the US have become chaotic temperature-checking zones as hordes of travellers return from Europe and the UK, downtown Washington looks like a ghost town (no taxis in sight and, starting tomorrow, buses running on a limited schedule), and the Governor of Illinois, JB Pritzker, said on Twitter last night that “the federal government needs to get its s@#t together”. (As a postscript, he added: “NOW.”)

At the briefing today, journalists will ask the White House officials what additional measures – if any – they will be taking to restrict travel.

My colleagues here in the West Wing also have a special interest in finding out whether one of the briefers, the vice-president, who has met with an official who’s infected with coronavirus, has himself been tested.

As the president would say: stay tuned.”

Here you go: https://edition.cnn.com/travel/artic...day/index.html

Yes, we do offer take away and delivery via eat.ch but we just started it like 2 months ago and seems to not work much yet. As I said above we mostly work for schools and we are busiest over lunch time and students get mostly as take away, but with school closed we are like 70% down with daily income. I will see whatís going to e tomorrow. Today, because of Sunday we were closed anyway.
