At least the UK is asking local industry to start producing what's missing. We could do with more of that approach in this country and across the EU, but Brexit seems to have put more of a getgo mode in the current n°10. We're not going to get out of this without redirecting some of the industry to producing all that's needed for mass medical care.

BTW leshop.ch hit it's order limit for the next two weeks, and I understand coop@home has as well. You're going to have to forage outside if you run out of supplies. Even queuing in front of supermarkets... Oh 2020, why are you so interesting?
"producing what's missing", that is a typical politician impractical wish.
Most UK factories have been torn down and turned into housing estates.
So what are you left with, finding land, getting planning permission and building a new one?
Or you may be lucky and find an abandoned factory to renovate and reequip; how long will that take at what cost?
Or if you already have a factory then throw out all the equipment, buy and install new, train your workers and by then the virus is gone.

Not to mind that the car factories they're asking to produce the medical devices will not have the standards required for the production of them. Talking here of clean rooms and specialised cleaning supplies/standards/processes for the production of oxygen systems. They might be able to spec up to them, or produce some of the anscillary equipment (housings, mountings etc) but even then they'd be retooling and bottlenecked by the oxygen specific bits.

Or just screw the standards and go for it.

The hotel where my wife works is still serving a breakfast buffet for up to 50 people!
Doesn't make sense to me.
Someone should tell them it is (almost certainly) not allowed. They have to ensure a 2 metre distance - which is difficult to impossible at a buffet.

Re: Coronavirus

JCB is a massive donor to the Conservatives and Johnson- they produce ... JCBs and are not at all geared to switch that quickly - it is just another silly publicity stunt.

Sadly No.2 just means we are on the expected track of 12 to 18 months for a vaccine.

Restaurants at hotels are allowed to stay open. For hotel-guests only though.
A buffet might not be the best solution.

I went on the website of my dentist yesterday to find out they only take cases of accidents and finishing pending and pressing treatments.
When I called to postpone my next week's appointment for tooth cleaning, I found out it's not their decision but direction from health department, which will decide about it again on April 19th.

As I'm a positive person, I made an new appointment for end of May. We'll see if and how often is has to be shifted.

I've just been told to adapt a website. Dog obedience schools must close down as well!

Although of course not a vaccine, they're also doing controlled trials of two anti-virals of which there is some evidence of success in China.

kaletra, an old HIV anti-viral and chloroquine, an anti-malarial.

There's enough evidence at the moment for the U.K, for example, to block parallel selling of these drugs.

When there is proof that these drugs statistically work then production will ramp-up.

all the shops closed. Can the shopaholics cope with that?
Galaxus.ch/en

Pretty sure I read somewhere, that in China, a lot of companies ramped up their online presence - so many people home, not much to do... shopped online.

Is there a list anywhere of exactly which type of stores have to be closed.
I could imagine my home gradually sinking into darkness as bulbs fail if hardware stores are closed.

Landi is still open, here in Neuchâtel at least, you can get practically anything there.
