The euro football championships due to take place this summer are likely to be postponed until next year. UEFA will make the proposal to its 55 members this afternoon.
I can see the olympics suffering the same fate.
UEFA is willing to do it next year if the participants pay them 320 Million Euro..

How about HELL NO.

319 extra cases (8% increase) isn't too bad?
Its the rate of increase, it is lower than last few days. If the rate of increase slows down on a consistent basis that is when we know that infection is somewhat contained. Early days, could just be a fluke.

Out of interest, thinking about numbers infected etc..

How many you are / have been infected and what about people you actually know?

For me, two people at work confirmed. That's all.
None of my friends / neighbours know of anybody.

*it's not a loaded question, just wondering how it's affecting real people, rather than number
3 - 4 co-workers in my department were infected.

A close relative of a co-worker has died.
The co-worker and others who spent time around them on the weekend are now in quarantine and unable to do anything with the deceased family member (confirmation of the virus came after the death.)

The more cases, the lower the death rate!

There's a gardening enterprise working at the neighbours at the moment. Didn't think that was allowed.

Plus it's disrupting the school at home and work at home.

If by "we" you mean Switzerland (as if you mean Nederland my answer would be wrong)

a) we don't. The Swiss company is producing 24 hours a day and asked permission for Sunday work. First delivery will be to Italy. Demands of the US delayed due to Italy's need.
b) we are not part of the EU.

And to someone who talked about "inside". I thought being an EU member was being "inside"?

All I'm saying is that when shit hits the fan, EU is useless. Not that I'm actually saying something new here.
Agreed.

But you can't go from 800 to 5 in 24 hours, especially since the 800 occurred from Saturday to Sunday. With everybody frolicking about and rush-bumming stores, the number for Monday should have been anywhere near 1'200 confirmed new infections.

One of my colleagues was a confirmed GE case. I was classified as having close contact during the prescribed infection period but by the time they informed us, it was past the 14-day period so I did not have to isolate.

'Gewerbebetriebe' such as gardeners, garages and similar are allowed to stay open as they "can keep their distances" at work and when dealing with customers. At least that was communicated yesterday....however, boyfriendinlaw #2 owns a small garage and is sole personnel there and is now really worried about his income, he is allowed to be open, but customers are scared to go out.

Many small businesses (KMU) will suffer terribly and may go bankrupt.

Germany really showing it's true face these days!
And Germans claiming we were panic buying in their supermarkets etc.. I am not sure any of this is helpful, we're friends and neighbours and this crisis is totally manageable if we all keep our heads

No, but I'd rather have 50 persons there than the noise of one lawn mower.

I thought I heard 300+ cases in the latest daily release. I agree its way too early for a flattening trend. I was trying tp point out that rate of change is much more relevant than change.

Interesting, my garage messaged me that the replacement part was received, but by the time we got together to arrange the work, they said they couldn't do it because of the shut down.

On the other hand, being at home I realised that the mazout (heating oil) was very low and prices low so ordered some yesterday before the announcement. But they actually confirmed delivery for tommorrow. So there still is some Swiss commerce going on, but it's really not clear what's open and what's not.

Re: Coronavirus

Could someone knowledgeable please give me a steer on children playing outside.

We were in Klosters this weekend where the streets were very quiet when we left this morning. We are now back in Stafa. We live in a house in a development that is very child friendly and there is a bit of rough open land with a stream just a few metres away. I am really very surprised to see that people have just opened their doors and let their children out to play. They are on bikes, scooters, running around, playing football etc. Surely this is not the idea?

I can completely understand how difficult it will be to keep children indoors, but is this right ... ?

You will not have the chance to see this "flattening trend" cause simply:

"At the moment the numbers rise so fast that we have difficulties even putting them into the system' says Koch from @BAG_OFSP_UFSP and adds that the numbers are not so relevant anymore – priority is flattening the curve"

Government clearly communicated that garages can remain open. Perhaps tell your garage to inform themselves a bit better.

A whole supermarket? That’s incredible!

Sorry, couldn’t resist although I am having a hard time trying to work out what you meant to write there.
Sorry. She had a roll of baking paper snatched out of her hands by someone who thought it was the last one.

When the person realised it wasn't, they took it anyway - no apology or acknowledgement.

There are other stories of people taking stuff out of other peoples' trolleys too.
