Wrong. Totalitarian law is control over every aspect of everyone's life. That's what China is aiming to do. The rest of the world in "lockdown" is restricting some aspects of life, but outside of that, do what you like. Walk the dog. Get much needed exercise. Even have dinner with friends - if you want to take that risk.
I dont have a dog

A team from the CDC and other US organisations has reported evaluations of the stability of the new coronavirus outside the human body. They made measurements with aerosols and on surfaces of plastic, stainless steel, copper and cardboard. The half-life of the virus in aerosols was 1.1-1.2 hours and it remained viable for over 3 hours......

(Aerosols can remain suspended in air for long periods, unlike larger droplets which normally fall to the ground within the 2m safety distance).

From WHO:
How does COVID-19 spread?

People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales. These droplets land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth. People can also catch COVID-19 if they breathe in droplets from a person with COVID-19 who coughs out or exhales droplets. This is why it is important to stay more than 1 meter (3 feet) away from a person who is sick.
WHO is assessing ongoing research on the ways COVID-19 is spread and will continue to share updated findings.
Can the virus that causes COVID-19 be transmitted through the air?

Studies to date suggest that the virus that causes COVID-19 is mainly transmitted through contact with respiratory droplets rather than through the air. See previous answer on “How does COVID-19 spread?”

Respiratory droplets travel through the air. What are you on about here?

Re: Coronavirus

I've read some of the terrible reports of really old people suffering through treatment for Corona-caused symptoms, and then dying anyway. That made me wonder whether they couldn't have been left without treatment, and might have died sooner, but had fewer uncomfortable intubations, etc.

This, therefore, is a serious question, from a conversation with a friend: if one becomes really ill from Corona complications, and recovery is unlikley, is there anything Corona-specific one could do to speed up the process towards one's own death, rather than having to endure the extra suffering till then?

Don't go to hospital and hence don't get put on a ventilator.

I'm not sure what you are asking?

I'm sure there are plenty of ways to speed up one's demise.

It may help the person in question but it would be a pretty awful waste of resources to do if the cause of death was not clear and an autopsy was needed to established it.

Re: Coronavirus

As many of us turn to ordering stuff online I understood from the Federal rules that post offices were specifically to remain open. However it seems the post office is specifically closing certain ones, so best to check before you head out. Here's a list of those closed.

Also, in case anyone has a desire for British food, Jim's British Market is open and they deliver!

Have you seen them in the last week? If so, you should probably quarantine yourself immediately.

Hoping to find some sporting equipment for the kids I thought I would be smart and go to Aldi. Nope, anything deemed non food/urgent like light bulbs, footballs acetone, tools, toasters etc.. was sealed off. I gazed longingly at a vegetable steamer before a member of staff gently shooed me away

Here's a well-written article explaining the differences between aerosol and droplets. And setting out some provisional findings about half-life.

The new coronavirus can likely remain airborne for some time. That doesn’t mean we’re doomed

Wow, in Guatemala indefinitely. Are they still with the tour group, or on their own now?
The group is still together, now staying near the airport in hopes of being able to catch a flight somehow (there are none). Guatemala sealed it's borders 2 days ago for '2 weeks' they say. I'm not sure what the group has been advised from the embassy.

Just to get one thing straight. It's martial law. Not marshal law. Not marshall law. Marshall had a plan. Using the wrong word makes you look a bit ignorant and weakens your otherwise excellent and convincing arguments.

Or was it marital law - https://twitter.com/marcorubio/statu...74274631294977

Don't be racist and don't quarantine yourself.

At the moment it's pretty useless anyway....hug, kiss 3 times on both chicks, do your usual jogging and exhale your droplets towards people who're passing by.

If you consider Lidl to be a competitor, give the Stadtpolizei a quick call then
