Why is it cherry picking? Can't one post some good news in already difficult time?

Baselstadt have made a correction for yesterday, so now the last 7 days look like this:

39, 29, 39, 38, 12, 36, 34 (today)

Pretty flat, but no 'Hi ho, Hi ho...' just yet.
As of 31.3.2020 the excess in 65+ follows the trend of every year, flu season etc.

While it might increase in the coming weeks, it will not be very different compared to other years

Comparing to the flu also gets tiresome.

Seasonal deaths this time, so not the flu directly. That graph will be interesting in a months time.

And?

Also reported today a 13yo in London died from Corvid-19. No underlying illnesses known.
I like seeing when someone 80+ years old recovers. It shows that although the virus is quite deadly, getting is not an automatic death sentence for everyone over a certain age. Surely that can give some hope to other older individuals or their relatives who might be worried?

Unless its end of the world news, a lot of people here just don't want to hear (read)

NO. Switzerland is ahead of planning - started already in January of this year.

It‘s unfortunately other countries that have your scenario of consistently and chaotically running behind, trying to catch-up. It will be bad, but the Swiss were made aware of this in a transparent and coherent way as soon as deemed necessary.

Where would you rather be living?

You are correct.

Switzerland has 1900 infected per 1M and Italy has 1750

Switzerland has 50 victims per 1M and Italy has 206

Not forgetting that the number of infected is purely dependent on the testing methods (possibilities) in place, which vary widely from country to country.

Switzerland made their testing criteria very explicit from the onset. And that remains consistent. So we can believe the figures we are getting back.

It is difficult time because of the panic it causeed, not really due to a virus that killed 99% of WWII partisans in Italy

Re: Coronavirus

The more you test the more infected people you find, Switzerland having so many cases confirmed deserved a compliment.

If Netherlands would test more they'd surpass Switzerland within hours, but they lack everything to do such...

Re: Coronavirus

Well that tweet may be somewhat flippant, but there's truth in it.

You google for data and find three different pieces of information. Daily "media" updates who are just exploiting incorrect information to create sensationalist headlines - 1000 new infections a day. Bull. a) it's detected infections based on those who show symptoms, b) they use data from different points in time, so an apple-orange situation going on here (yes, I've actually tracked this for a few days) and c) even if it were true which it isn't, absolute numbers mean nothing without context.

Fifteen times a day, various "experts" from a number of areas make some form of statement, and all of them pretty much contradict each other. An epidemiologist here, a virologist there, a doctor here, an economist there - and they can't even agree within their respective own fields, let alone among each other.

You already know that different strategies for testing and reporting have been applied, making any comparison completely moot and any predictions at best questionable and at worst outright destructive.

Bottom line, and as I said here before: there is close to zero reliable information or data on really any aspect relevant to this situation and everybody who makes decisions makes them based on assumption. It's a simple as that. That's ok, but let's not pretend anyone has a clue or plan at this point that would be based on anything really.

I have taken the freedom to adjust your statement with the correct information, hope you do not mind. In these days is very important to be as accurate as possible.
