To be honest, this whole episode has put me right off my bat soup.

And I'm in two minds over this mouse stew I have on the go.
Looks like it's back to cockroaches then.

I think it's time we build an ark. And assign tasks. Who volunteers to get the mosquito-couple?

Agree. Classic FAKE NEWS.

Its like a big hurricane that then downgrades to a tropical depression before hitting shore. The press will flog it until the next crisis arises. Panic and fear means more clicks and more revenue.

In perspective, the seasonal flu will most likely kill more people this year.

"When we think about the relative danger of this new coronavirus and influenza, there’s just no comparison,” said Dr. William Schaffner, a professor of preventive medicine and health policy at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. “Coronavirus will be a blip on the horizon in comparison. The risk is trivial.”"

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...se/4564133002/

"Yet while all this has been going on, the virus has been proving itself pretty poor at killing its host. Up until Thursday pm 571 cases had been confirmed and a further ten in other countries. Of these, 95 were reported to be seriously ill and 17 people have died – most of them, it is reported, had pre-existing medical conditions. That is pretty mild compared with the worst flu seasons in Britain. By this stage of the winter two years ago flu was already reported to have killed 155 people."

Fake news?? I don't think so! Read recent reports: US evacuating citizens and Hong Kong closing schools:

Re: Coronavirus

No one has any clue as to how this will go. But in the meantime, the risk and ramifications are huge - for those afflicted - notwithstanding China and the financial markets.

Re: Coronavirus

It is true that the city manager didn’t do a good job to solve it faster but the pictures of dead people are totally fake. If you ever lived in a country that has so many population and you will understand there are only few amounts of doctors but too many patients and only limited testers for testing. Especially the symptoms is invisible at the beginning, really hard to make sure who have it or not. But thousands of doctors and masks are going to Wuhan to help. The central government also give special team to support. The situation is not totally what you see from reading some reports. Now China already blocked all the tourists to foreign countries.
anyway you don’t really need to worry. After China blocked the tourists from China, the situation in Europe will not become worse.

Re: Coronavirus

The whole thing shows the control that the Chinese govt has over the masses when they can control the movement of 60 million people. Such a control would be unthinkable in Europe or other Western lands.

Here is the supposed spreader of the Virus

In 2 weeks time the worse wil be over, and in a month the despairing would have moved onto something else to wring their hands about, probably Trump if there's nothing else on the market.

It is not like the gov would approve, innit. The stuff that leaked and financial loss is probably the only thing that motivates the gov to act. It is interesting how in some news sources the local gov is blamed, in others it is the central gov that are blamed for trying to cover stuff up at the initial phase.

Oks. My train of thoughts was that teachers usually have a robust immune system..but then I recalled the stats I read a while back what professions are exposed the most and get sick and I think we are no. 2. Na ja.
