Seems wierd that the line up in their cars in USA to get a food handout. If they can afford a car and gas and insurance but they line up for up to 12 hours to get free food.

What is wrong in this country?

Yeah, now I think about it. Can’t afford a car here here (or at least set other priorities like climate change), but our curve is currently bending

The idea that a lot of these people might have had a job some weeks ago is to abstract for you?

Uhmmm, dunno if these figures are right, or if The NY Times, CNN and BBC are just spouting nonesense, but it seems that the US now has 16 million unemployed, way above what it was a few days ago. Switzerland also saw a bit of an increase, but has come up with quite a good package to provide both businesses and impacted employees, as well as employers with a pretty good income to tide-over. As in some other countries.

Hey, I’m sitting here in Zürich, and this is what we’re seeing. In Zürich, no sorry, Switzerland, we’re also thinking about going back to normality within a carefully and cautious time period. And unfortunately some people died above the normal seasonal flu rate until now (or did they?)

Just sayin’

They are big consumers in USA and millions spend more than they earn and are heavily in debt. So it could be there own fault here. And looking at some of the pictures and the seemly obese people waiting for their hand out.

Beyond any doubt there will be persons in that line that have no business there and disabuse the situation, there always are such persons. But saying "he has a car and thus money for food" is shortsighted.

Re: Coronavirus

Some people live in their cars, full-time, not being able to afford anywhere else to sleep.
Some roads are built without pavements (side-walks), so that walking would be too dangerous.
Some shopping centres or sports grounds are built far away from the residential areas.

Also, take into consideration the distances and lack of public transport in a lot of areas..... Where I worked in Ohio it was not simple to grab a bus to work. Lots of people lived outside and had no connection at all to public transport.

His State does seem to be more stable than others currently...

Where has he gone to? His travel options must be very limited at the moment.

Re: Coronavirus

Public transport is rarely a for-profit business and needs subsidies very often.

So, it's an easy target for politicians who run on the ticket of "curbing government spending".

Nobody walks in Texas. A car is a must even if you're poor. When I was a starving student in the US I bought me a car at police auction for $50 and drove it away...

Has president Trump yet claimed the credit for Boris Johnson's apparent recovery ? Our great prayers, the great advice our great medical profession gave to his doctors etc. etc.

Translation from Tages Anzeiger

"Scheiss-Zürcher, go away!"

"First there was great solidarity - now the aggressions are growing. Anyone who will leave the house and go for a walk in the forest will hear a lot."
