Nobody walks in Texas. A car is a must even if you're poor. When I was a starving student in the US I bought me a car at police auction for $50 and drove it away...
Sounds like my dirt cheap (and awesome) bass and magnificent sewing machine <3 ... Love this kind of stories.

Btw, Edwin - rts1 just said that 82% of HUG ( Geneva University Hospitals) Covid19 hospitalisations are overweight. What you posted earlier makes a complete sense.

Not the worst place to buy a second hand. Here the VW buses from the post used to be a good deal. All very well maintained.

Only problem is, that they have the steering wheel on the wrong side.

Yup, spent a considerable fraction of my younger life in (West) Texas. Just tried to explain to my Swiss daughter that people do not walk in some countries. She said, well tbh I also take the tram or bus or train a lot. Then I had to explain to her that, yes, but we walk to get to the tram or bus or train and back, don’t just drive-thru’

Uhmmm, dunno if these figures are right, or if The NY Times, CNN and BBC are just spouting nonesense, but it seems that the US now has 16 million unemployed, way above what it was a few days ago. Switzerland also saw a bit of an increase, but has come up with quite a good package to provide both businesses and impacted employees, as well as employers with a pretty good income to tide-over. As in some other countries.

Hey, I’m sitting here in Zürich, and this is what we’re seeing. In Zürich, no sorry, Switzerland, we’re also thinking about going back to normality within a carefully and cautious time period. And unfortunately some people died above the normal seasonal flu rate until now (or did they?)

Just sayin’
Switzerland seasonal flu deaths in a year; up to 1,500.
Source
Switzerland COV-19 deaths in one month; 1,106

Oh look, 1,106 is less than 1,500; you must be correct

I think you may referring to “since the first registered Corona Virus case in Switzerland”. Here the graphics, globally. I don’t need to pay to see it, so just register with your email address then you can’t ignore it:

Thanks for your link which shows COV-19 deaths trending above seasonal flu, of course, by a much higher margin in the 15 days since 29 March.

Wow, how did you manage to upload a screen-shot onto EF, respect .
Can you also upload the curve that’s there for the years since 2015? That’s missing, maybe you need to reduce the pixel size (or something apparently)

Look, I’m sorry and I realise that’s it’s not cool (and against all my moral EF principals), but this just made me laugh during my time of self-isolation.

Hopefully back to business as usual around, uhmmm, when the Corona crisis is over or there about, and then I will be back (or not) to my usual pedantic self.

Here's another post that makes absolutely no sense. Setting aside the bizarre and unwarranted personal attack, your ramblingly incoherent post has absolutely nothing to do with my post that you quoted. It's just weird and meaningless. Or have you now taken over from V__ as the resident tin foil-hat-wearing coronavirus denier, flying in the face of scientific fact?

Psychiatrists should still be available for emergency consultations. Check with your local hospital. Remember to explain your sexual confusion (and by the way, I'm sorry for you if the erect dicks you've seen resemble or are the size of a gear change paddle).

Simply take a screen shot with windows " snipping tool" and resize if necessary then upload to EF as usual. Whats this 2015? thing

Re: Coronavirus

One suggestion that is under discussion is a compulsory postponement of all summer holidays ( schools also ) till winter. This would take the summer load away and people would simply work through summer.

Re: Coronavirus

Well if we look at the complete graph, we are still behind the 2015 flu year, but as we didn't panic back than and we didn't close everything and we didn't contribute every 90+ death to corona we are still behind the 2015 numbers

But what is more important is to look at the age groups of corona deaths in Switzerland (which correspond to other countries as well)

Below 50 years old there have been 5 deaths

Between 50 ans 59 there have been 19 deaths

Between 60 and 69 there have been 69

Between 70 and 79 there have been 188

80+ there have been 580 deaths

So if we don't count the 80+ which are huge majority of cases and let's face it it's nothing abnormal for 80+ people to die as the life expectancy is 82 years in Switzerland, in the 70-79 bracket as well nothing abnormal for death at that age given how we live today, we are left with only 80 cases in the 50-69 bracket and 5 cases in the young below 50 bracket

So... what are we fighting here? The circle of life?

I don't quite understand why, but you seem to be showing just how successful the measures taken so far have been in avoiding this virus becoming a major killer, while on the other hand suggesting that we shouldn't have bothered doing anything about it.

So... what are you fighting here? Your own arguments?
