Re: Coronavirus

VD has the highest number of infections and death numbers yet people here seem to be worrying less than some EFers

One of the most popular radio/TV show from Lausanne has created a musical parody called "The Corona musical" with some very popular French/international songs

It's with subtitles, so even without speaking French it's quite funny

Troll.

But apparently promoting "fake news" is not considered trolling on EF, apparently is good for debate etc etc etc
If everyone put him on their ignore lists instead of engaging, there would be no debate.

The problem with the ignore list is you can still see when they post something and can click the show post button!

Will you accept deaths after 12 weeks?
What on earth does that mean? Preventable deaths no.

In principle, actually, I'm with Dylan Thomas: Rage, rage, at the dying of the light.

They're not staff, and they appear to have made a decision. That decision might have been to not make a decision.

Report his posts if you want, block him as well for good measure. I still like to see the other side, both for entertainment and to see what other people are thinking.

A staff is something a person might use to emphasise a point when ensuring a person shall not pass.

V____'s posts provide a devil's advocate view on the Coronavirus. Some of what he has posted has some possible logic to it. I don't see any reason to ban him or call him a troll.

Hey RufusB, remember when you said there may have been local capacity problems and lack of ICU capacity on the NHS? It seems that so far there wasn't!

https://www.bbc.com/news/health-52293762

Hey, TonyClifton, check out the Twitter feed of Nicki Credland @credland_ nicki and the resulting feed.

Apparently Scotland has around 176 ICU beds. On Tuesday 196 were occupied.
RNs are replying that their ICUs are running at double capacity. I know my local hospital is near that too.

Those 4000 beds are the extra ones I mentioned, not part of the original capacity which, I believe, was the thrust of your original point. Like I said, you're believing the well-spun version of events. That's entirely your prerogative but it does not make it fact. Your seeming desperation to point score and be "right" on this speaks volumes.

You said they cannot reopen things because a resurgence might occur.

He then mentioned that no matter how long the lockdown goes for a resurgence still might occur.

You then said "Let's just try the 12 weeks, eh?"

He is now asking if after the 12 weeks you will be willing to risk some people possibly dying - his logic being that we cannot afford to stay locked down forever and it may be better to get it over and done with, bleeding hearts be damned.

I have no problem with V_ whatsoever. Being a bit of a contrarian myself, I smile at his post and a small tear rolls down my left cheek. He reminds me so much of me (although I was much more handsome), when I was just starting up on the EF.
Ok, jokes aside. One can report a post but if we don't see the flagged post as offensive, then there is no reason for a ban. Other mods may see it differently or possibly read the post or thread differently, but in general, I don't have a problem with challenging point point of views.

I'd be very happy if it turns out one day that I was wrong.

And in the case my fears that we've done more harm than good turn out correct I will have absolutely no satisfaction

I've never said there wasn't a need for extra ICU beds, not that their number wasn't increased. In fact I said that this was a great achievement managed in a short space of time.

The fact there is still capacity at the peak indicates to me at least that the lockdown needn't have been so strict.
Yes you said the initial panic was unfounded because there was capacity. I pointed out that the original capacity and the current capacity were two different totals because lots of new ICU beds have been built /appropriated. Now you're just shifting the goal posts to suit. Again.

Doropfiz is right.

The fact that you think the virus is being stopped by measures - I find that funny. The measures were only put in place not to overload the hospitals and not to stop the virus, which didn't materialize for reasons that yet we haven't understood.
The only folk on this thread who ever thought that were you, TC, Jorido abd a few others. Urs Max was most definitely not one of them. Lockdown etc has only ever been about minimising.

The overloading of hospitals hasn't happened in some places purely because of these measures. So yes, you are either still trolling or are exceptionally hard of thinking on this topic.

Yes, that's right. I do it all for the millions of views and the endorsement deals I get through EF.
Maybe you ought to reconsider labeling individuals who voluntarily read through YOUR daily literary cacophony as "staff". We're moderators and not staff. Staff is the 25 year old psychology major, supplementing her income by passing out freebies at a festival. Are we clear on this?
