Oktoberfest that was planned to start on Sept 19 got cancelled this year in Germany. For the 1st time since the WWII.
Due to the well established link between alcohol drinking and shorter life expectancy? :-)

I don't know much about beer nor Oktoberfest, I have to admit. Except once we sang symphony there and I've been trying to forget the grown men spanking eachother's leather shorts, ever since.

6mil of visitors normally come there, that will hurt the industry

I wonder if Czech beer spas open, if it's planned for the massage places to open here the 27th, no?

I always thought masks were a niche activity. Apparently a lot of people is into this hobby and the virus is making it more visible....."A mandatory mask could come in Switzerland in certain sectors. According to a new survey, however, 59 percent support a general mask requirement in public." https://beta.20min.ch/story/mehrheit...t-353479762001

It's a "hobby" encouraged by the state, so where's the problem?

Which would be a perfect accompaniment for a new 'modern day series' of the classic BBC TV series,
One Man and his Dog, now called The Man in the Iron Face Mask and his Dog.

You don't mean physio, do you? Coronavirus is probably the most benign of things one might contract there. Same logic must apply here as to alcohol consumption :-)

Czech Chamber of Medicine has published some stats on most infected jobs so far, after medical professions (10%), the highest percentage are teachers (), drivers, police officers, social workers, firemen & paramedics
Because they're unable to properly social distance and are around more people and kids who carry the virus. Not suprised at all.

That's why schools are closed: to minimise the contact and crossovers. Each teacher is basically in contact with whoever their pupils' parents/carers are in close contact with, with the pupil as carrier.

Re: Coronavirus

Does anyone remember the great epidemic that started in the 1960's called BO - Body Odour,
that was the great scourge that stalked the land and have everyone veering away from you !!
Some even resorted to face masks it was so bad.

Fortunately Lifebuoy toilet soap was there to save us !!

Perhaps she had a reduced immune system due to chemotherapy or another condition which meant she was at high risk?

MusicChick, this is the first time I've seen a study separated by profession. Could you do a bit of translation of the article, just the percentages by profession, svp? Thanks!

Nevermind, I did it with Google Translate. The study was done on 6,000 random people who tested positive up to 13 April. Of the 6,000 people, 584 were health care workers, 129 were teachers, 69 were public transport drivers, 57 were police, 55 were social workers, 49 were EMS and firemen and 19 were soldiers.

We spent 14 months 9 people of which 5 kids in a 70m2 apartment. Water and electricity only few hours per day. Already at 5am 100 people waiting in front of a shop and inside 3 liters of milk, 2 loafs of bread.
Which war was this?

I’d hazard a guess based on previous comments he’s made and say that it was somewhere in the Balkans.

Maybe she was working in a hospital and was protecting you, have you thought about that?

Or even someone with the virus going to hospital or to be tested.
