Based on
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
it appears the number of people who have died from Covid-19 in Switzerland is 211 per million or 0.211%.

Is this correct?

edit- I actually think this is 0.000211%
For next time:

(211 / 1000000) * 100 = Percentage

Thanks. But isn‘t 0.021% way below the kind of figures of 2 or 3% that were being talked of some weeks ago??

It would be the actual IFR (Infection fatality rate) if 100% of the population is infected and nobody else would die. We know beyond any doubt that more people will die, and that there is no infection rate of 100% In the beginning many numbers went around, and a lot of articles mentioned numbers without showing the math behind it.

Currently the number is btw not 0.021% but given the latest official Swedish numbers 3220 confirmed deaths and a population of 10.230.000 it is 0.0315% and it is the current amount of fatalities against the whole population of Sweden, sort of useless but "interesting" for comparisons. More people diagnosed means the CFR number gets lower, more people getting infected means the IFR becomes lower, more people dying of Corona means both the numbers go up. We still have to see how the numbers will turn out. No country knows their actual infection rate.

Also IFR and CFR will differ hugely if little testing is done like in the Provence of Stockholm.

2.377.081 people
9.461 diagnosed infections
1.674 deaths.

IFR = Unknown since nobody has any clue how many people are infected in Stockholm, but the minimum given todays death count is 0.07% (Assuming 100% of population infected)

some examples:

50% more deaths of currently infected people and 10% currently infected would give an IFR of 1%
10% more deaths of currently infected people and 40% currently infected would give an IFR of 0,19%

CFR up to today = 17,7%

As for IFR both numbers from my example are much higher than the flu, with the flu the most named number for western countries is around 0.1%/0,2% but this number only takes in account the amount of people who actually get the flu while many stay without symptoms meaning it is actually not on IFR since it leaves many infected people out of the stats) thus the real IFR of the flu is much lower than the often cited numbers and according to researchers more around 0.04% and beyond doubt Corona will turn out to be multiple times higher since my 10%/40% example is imho pretty optimistic but still makes it 5 times more deadly than the flu, and Stockholm already has as an absolute minimum already a 75% higher number than the models for the flu.

Conclusion: People still saying this is like the flu are dumber than a donkey's butt and should be mocked or ignored, just what you yourself prefer.

EDIT: I hope this helps some people understanding the numbers and used terms a bit better which can only help the discussion.

'Closing schools may made virus spread faster': Norway health agency

Camilla Stoltenberg, the institute's director, on Thursday night told Norway's state broadcaster NRK that the agency suspected elder school pupils were more likely to spread coronavirus if kept at home.

In Vaud as well. And all tests and marks stopped on 13th March.

Primary kids go to school every other day until the 25th May, and one week more at least for secondary kids. Which means we’ll teach to half classes.

How I’ll manage to keep teenagers motivated for 7 weeks when there are no tests and 99% of them are assured to pass the year is Somewhat beyond me, but hey
I have a feeling that all will be ok. Kids will be happy to be at school, even if the learning factor might be secondary. And that is already pretty good

Some of us are still waiting for you to point us at the posts where some of us according to your statement used fake pictures.

How about you lay down your general tactic of ignoring the subject when caught in a lie, but start backing up your accusations or admit you sucked shit out of your thumb.

Remember those images of coffins lined up waiting for army trucks to take them in Bergamo? Some EFers members were posting them a while back.

Fake news. Those images were from a boat accident Italy in 2013

Dithering, hopeless UK government look set to announce a 14 day quarantine tomorrow for all arrivals
other than from the Republic of Ireland. With the highest number of deaths in Europe it makes one
wonder why now and who do they think they’re protecting themselves from?! Utter shambles!
I used to bristle at the notion of UK exceptionalism, now I’m not so sure.

Looks like Tony`s seen the light as last and wishes the UK was back in the EU. As the the problem always lay in Whitehall and not in Brussels.

Sigh, once again “fans” of the Swedish strategy don’t see it the best method to avoid deaths rather the best method trade-off corinavirus deaths against keeping the economy moving, personal liberties and deaths caused by the lockdown.

I also think Switzerland done a fairly good job of managing the lockdown.
Your fact-free opinion!

In reality, Sweden's economy is expected to suffer just as badly as its European neighbors according to Sweden’s central bank, the Riksbank.

The National Institute for Economic Research (NIER) said in a statement that it believed that Sweden’s economy is set to shrink 7% this year and unemployment to rise to 10.2%.

“Developments in April indicate that the Covid-19 pandemic will hit the Swedish economy much harder than anticipated,” the NIER said, adding that “the global economy is developing worse than expected which is hitting Swedish export companies which are also hampered by problems with international supply chains.”

Source

How many extra deaths paid for this poor economic result will not be known for some time

You'll have to elaborate on how being in the EU would have helped here, as all the members basically went their own way.

You're quite correct on the Whitehall comment though.

If the teacher does not explain what he expects, the student has no clue what to learn....

So yeah I have no clue why you groan a factually fully correct posting or what lesson should be learned from such. (unless you prefer factually incorrect postings?)

Anybody else who wants to take a guess what the lesson is here?

If you keep quiet it will be easier when you start backtracking...

Are we still behind Italy? Your predictions and opinions have been very helpful regarding corona virus. Whatever you say - it must be the totally opposite!

So typical of you

Avoiding the answer and coming up with a distraction.

And yes by then we were behind of Italy, thankfully the restrictions worked out properly and now we seem to be ahead in getting the numbers as small as reasonably possible.

Still awaiting the link to us using those pictures as you claimed. Lies, lies, lies.....

Thankfully I'm not your teacher. Yikes!

You could easily have backed up your claim from the start. Instead you expect people to waste their time and search for it themselves. Had you posted the link right away I probably would have thanked you instead.

The ironic thing behind this is that at same time you keep bugging V__ to back up his (probably false) claim (and you're right to).

I'm only bugging V__ since he's trolling and staff is refusing to act on it for whatever reason eventho some moderators indeed think he is a troll and he is deliberately lying and not even attempting to be a serious part of the conversation. Actually he must be enjoying me bugging since why else would he still be active, so I'm doing him a favour and have some fun myself in the meanwhile.

I btw missed your hundreds of other groans in this topic when people make statements or mention numbers without placing a link, so how to learn if you are so unregular in your behaviour. And do get to know the members you run into often, some are full of bull-shit, others do not mention numbers they cannot back-up unless making clear it is an opinion.

I’ll take a wild guess and say that it’s because it was in Dutch.

He definitely enjoys riling you up.

Going by the lack of replies most others have stopped feeding the troll.

Which of them were answers to me and contained data or info that hadn't been corroborated already? Further, I'm not aware that I was the forum police.

Why not provide it right away? You're not infallible. And it may contain more wisdom than you're aware, to boot.

Not really, the 2nd groan is for his "no reason at all".

That kind of detail should be expected in the local language (though I had hoped for German or French), the summary had already been provided in the first-groaned post.

Besides, if I had to guess I'd say something like half of my links are in German.
