Infodemic. The seasonal flu has infected many thousands and killed many hundreds, but we don't hear of that.
Here is an article that compares seasonal flu with Coronavirus. One of the things it mentions is:

"The first and most major difference between the flu and novel coronavirus, is how little we know about the latter—which plays into into the absence of treatment and vaccines for COVID-19. "People often compare the flu to COVID-19, but we have a vaccine to prevent and medications to treat the flu. Right now, we have no medications or vaccine for COVID-19," says Dr. Juthani."

It also mentions that the death rate for Coronavirus is much higher than that of the flu and that it has a much higher R0, which is the average number of people infected by a person with the virus.

Re: Coronavirus

The case in Aargau has now been officially confirmed, so the official count now is 5

Also we now have a 30yr woman in triemlispital in Zürich who has tested positive, however it only becomes official if another test in the national reference lab in Geneva also gives a positive result.

(confusing to keep count with them publishing results but official confirmation will be at least another day from another lab)

The only thing that scares me about Corona is how quickly fear and panic can be whipped up - far outweighing the threat.

FYI - I'm at risk by both age and asthma. Not going to wear this:

They use corona virus as an excuse to regulate outcome of world markets. As soon as positive news about vaccine is released, bull markets ahead. In the meantime panic stricken bear markets prevail.

Yes, but us peasants in this forum do not have a White House staff of thousands who are supposed to be making him look good?

Even I have automated spelling and grammar checkers but then I care that my audience is able to read correctly constructed statements.

As I mentioned before, if catching and surviving the disease does not confer immunity then how the hell will a vaccine be a success?

Marton, I am not a scientist nor doctor, but I find it compelling that both Singapore and China have curtailed new cases, through lockdown. Personally, I don't trust the stats from China but my friends living in Singapore say the government there has been VERY transparent.

What I find interesting is that men seem to be more affected than women re: Coronavirus. The article I read cited stats that women are more afflicted with auto-immune diseases than men (in general), and perhaps that helps their resiliency regarding this virus?

Again, I am no expert but I find the stats interesting regarding gender afflicted.

And there is where you differ completely from Trump.
Trump follows the "if you got nothing to convince them, confuse them" parole. I didn't construct that correctly but hey, gotta go with the flow.

From your link;
Quote:
Vaccines harmlessly show viruses (or even small parts of them) to the immune system. The body's defences recognise it as an invader and then learn how to fight it.
True, but in this unusual case catching the actual disease does not make people immune to reinfection so how will showing a harmless copy of the virus to their immune system do better?

California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Thursday that 33 people in California have tested positive for coronavirus, with officials monitoring more than 8,400 people for the virus.

Newsom said during a press conference that five people who tested positive have since moved out of the state

It is also interesting, in my opinion, that children seem to be less affected. Like you Terrifisch I am neither a scientist nor a doctor, but would have assumed that children were more susceptible to illnesses due to not having developed any natural immunity.

One more in Basel-Stadt, and one more in Basel-Land (Both await a reference check from the lab in Geneva to be official)

The one in Basel-Stadt concerns a woman who works at a daycare, the kids she came in contact with will be quarantined for 14 days and the daycare will be closed for two weeks.
