Those of us that do not live in the German part will know it as Vaud.

Japan planning to close all elementary, junior high, and senior high schools for a month to slow coronavirus. Something like 13 million kids.

https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2020/02/27/809984502/coronavirus-update-japan-is-closing-all-its-schools-for-a-month?t=1582834423899

Seems to be a big step. Is there new information about to drop??

-Hong Kong has been implementing this (and with extensions twice now) link
-Here in Singapore - school events have been monitored (many outdoor school events cancelled, not more than 20 student number gatherings, overseas school trips cancelled)

-Japan is trying to monitor the situation I guess (with many already unhappy with how they have been handling it so far...though the cruise ship caused many of the cases)
-We are also watching closely about the summer Olympics and if it will be postponed/ cancelled. link

Re: Coronavirus

The Defence & Sports federal ministry is postponing (no replacement date announced) it's annual staff meeting in Payerne tomorrow (850 were to attend). They're not taking risks... Federal Parliamentarians are asking if they should open the Spring session or not on Monday. Clearly people are getting rattled.

Meanwhile, has anyone seen people using masks en masse? I can't source any. I'm fully expecting DIY versions to come into use by next week. Also construction masks of various kinds... The Greens must be so peeved by the sudden rise of single use products just when they were trying to phase all that stuff out.

Masks only help those who are already infected with the virus. They do not help help those who are not infected.

A whistleblower claims the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) sent workers to receive the first Americans evacuated from China during the coronavirus outbreak without proper training or protective gear.

Strangely this is very similar to the complaint that Trump made about Obama's handling of the Ebola business.

This seems to be better based than the Trump complaint as this one has an actual whistleblower behind it

Supposedly it's near end of term there anyway, so they are just ending the term a few weeks early.

I work with a couple people who come from Italy daily, no problem there, it's all 'South of Milano'.

7 of the 8 Swiss cases were contracted in Milano and not "South of Milano"

They say the virus does not like warm temps. Therefore it would not survive in places like india for example

They probably had contact with people from south of Milano (all of the quarantined villages are 40km south of Milano).
