Re: Coronavirus

The Broadway star Nick Cordero has died of complications from coronavirus after being in a coma for several months. Cordero had a leg amputated and suffered several mini-strokes during his long stay in hospital.

Cordero was 41 and is survived by his wife and one-year-old son.

COVID-19 does not kill—or even affect—only the elderly and infirm, but indeed (as mentioned before), it seems that only celebrity cases get reported. In a sad parallel, Derek Draper, the husband of Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway, has also been hospitalised for months with complications from coronavirus and only recently awoke from a coma. He had none of the "usual" symptoms of COVID-19.

Both men suffered considerable damage to their lungs and other body parts. "Survival" from COVID-19 is not the same as "healthy again".

US government failing badly in its duty to protect US citizens.
And for those who think it only kills old people, Nick Cordero, Broadway actor, succumbed at age 41.

Spain's coronavirus antibodies study adds evidence against herd immunity

Spain's large-scale study on the coronavirus indicates just 5% of its population has developed antibodies, strengthening evidence that a so-called herd immunity to Covid-19 is "unachievable," the medical journal the Lancet reported on Monday.

The findings show that 95% of Spain's population remains susceptible to the virus. Herd immunity is achieved when enough of a population has become infected with a virus or bacteria -- or vaccinated against it -- to stop its circulation.

Doctor shows how wearing a mask does not affect oxygen levels

You don't see doctors and dentists collapsing from lack of oxygen, do you?

An article in 20 Minutes suggesting that companies are threatening employees with dismissal if they attend Nightclubs. Furthermore if an individual contracts the virus whilst attending a Club or through irresponsible action, then said individual will not be protected against dismissal under employment law.

Sounds better to me than using COVID-19-damaged lungs operating at 40% capacity to attempt to extract enough oxygen from the air to survive.

But you go right ahead and ignore medical advice. It's your right. I'm glad I'm not one of your patients, though.

Can only find this logical after what happened with the clubs over the last days, imagine having a company and somebody goes to a club and works for some days and than develops the symptoms and tests positive, if you're in bad luck you can close your entire company for one or two weeks.

Re: Coronavirus

Sounds all a bit theoretical. Who would tell an employer that you needed to quarantine because you have been hanging out at a "balkan club"? And then, as long as nightclubs are open legally because apparently their "Schutzkonzept" works, difficult to see how one use this as an argument to fire someone. Then again, you can be fired anyhow for anything (and then it is just a question whether this was "ungerechtfertigt" in which case you can some salary still, but your job will still be gone).

He doesn't need to worry. After all, it's just a simple flu.

If he gets through it easily within 8 days, he will take that as proof, could make things a lot worse for people in Brazil. So not sure what to wish him.

He is 65 years old so not starting from a good position plus karma.

Quote:
A judge ordered him to wear a mask in public last month after Bolsonaro was seen frequently disobeying an order mandating masks for the general public put in place in April.
Another Trump impersonator falls by the wayside.

Meanwhile, forty-three Florida hospital intensive care units (ICUs) across 21 counties have reached capacity as coronavirus cases in the Sunshine State surge, according to new data from the Agency for Health Administration.

I am sure they have a plan B.

Attachment 139783
It isn't the US government failing, it's the stupidity of your average US citizen. They are arguing with the government about wearing masks even, let alone shutting down shops and services. It Darwin @ macro scale. Asian communities have been raised from birth to work with each other, US kids are taught to be free thinkers.

Free thinking in covid-19 apocalypse doesn't work; around 10% of the US population will be die or be seriously affected by this unless a vaccine comes to the rescue, is that going to happen? I don't know...

China whom America and Europe has pumped billions into their economy over the past twenty years will be the new super power in the next 5 years at this rate, the US will like the UK only less cause their talk talk but don't walk the walk. Then we'll all have to adjust to the new new, where you cannot voice an opinion like this without worrying being about the secret police arrested and thrown into jail for subversion.

Or will they, will the US wake up to the stupid behaviour of their mega corporations and cut the money river off to to China. Does China have enough money to be become self sustaining without the US. Trump although an idiot in many ways has seen the light and is pushing to try to reduce the losses.

We all need to work together, but Europe and the US needs to understand that THAT isn't China's plan. They have the copied the US template and sharpened it in the process. They are VERY good businessmen. They'll work together until it no longer suites them doing so, then they'll cut us free and walk all over us.

But if there hadn't been a lock-down, and the NHS had been overloaded with COVID-19 cases, there would have been much less capacity in the NHS to diagnose and treat patients with cancer and that figure of 35, 000 could possibly have been much higher.

1. 'Could' being the operative word.
2. GP's were available throughout. Fear of covid was the factor.
3. My best mate's dad in the UK has been having his fortnightly chemo throughout lockdown. He's shielded because he's been having chemo for 4yrs and needs it for the rest of his life which could be 10+yrs, but that hasn't prevented his chemo.
