How do you know that? Did you ask everyone if they had been to Italy?

You have to be checked and if he thinks it might be Corona you have to do further tests. A phone consult will not do it most likely. He´ll arrange something sounds a bit strange imho
This may be ok. In the US, they tell people to contact their doctors before going along to see them. Last thing you want is a sick person infecting a room full of other patients.

I know because I literally stayed at home for a month. I live alone. As far as my memory goes I didn't talk with anyone for over 5 minutes in a month, being them Italian or not.

And I have long history of chronic bronchitis.

Re: Coronavirus

Just been to our local coop. All the yeast and flour was gone. But plenty of baking powder, which also makes a tasty bread. The tinned goods, pasta and rice shelves were pretty denuded.

Thankfully, the chocolate and alcohol shelves were full.

Re: Coronavirus

Even if the worst-case scenario were to occur and a large proportion of the Swiss population were to become infected with the new coronavirus, as epidemiologist Christian Althaus outlined in the NZZ, 99.6% of the Swiss population would survive the predicted 30,000 deaths. Thats really reassuring!

Re: Coronavirus

Some newspapers are claiming a dog in Hong Kong was tested positive for the virus.
It seems very unlikely if anybody sees this info from a reputable source please post.

There is an implicit assumption here that there will be sufficient places for the ca. 20% who need hospital treatments; if not enough places then the death rate will be much higher.

Our local one must have restocked somehow, even had at least 6 packs of Dettol No-Touch refill packages in stock.

Here you go. https://youtu.be/3vw0hIs2LEg
This video compares the effectiveness of sneezing into one's hand, into one's elbow (method demonstrated) and into a handkerchief.

Nine days ago, but I will most likely go again this week during my lunch break to do some shopping.

Very efficient to get the virus and the stock the same day.

Very doubtful the GP can test the patient. So yes, GP has to arrange something = make appointment with a place that is able to do it. Those again I guess don't take passing trade.

Same here. They actually informed the public to contact GP via telephone and not to just go see them.

Re: Coronavirus

I checked out some of the large audience YouTube channels about preppers and survivalists, its obvious there is a lot of misinformation being spread what's really happening around the world. In the randomness of the comments sections, many comments where made about Switzerland.

The comments were basically stating that it's now panic here in Switzerland and all stores are sold out of food and shelves are nearly empty.

What a croc of crap. Been to 2 Coops, an Aldi and the Volg this week since Monday and all stores looked fully stocked and tip-top.

The Coop Silbern in Dietikon was low on flour and that's it.

Re: Coronavirus

I haven't been following this thread so apologies the following links have already been posted earlier on. I've already posted this on the Basler Fasnacht thread (about the Fasnacht's having been cancelled because of Corona).

For anyone who wants statistics, such as they can be gathered and reported:

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
Here, one can arrange the data in several sequences, one of which is by country.

And here's the Federal Swiss government's official info

There's gaps on the shelves, but we're a long way from shelves being totally empty. We didn't go shopping today and now I'm kicking myself because I fancy a slice of cake I've also read some of the US survivalist on social media. They appear to believe the everyone is Switzerland is armed to the teeth (hence the obsession) and we'll all start shooting each other for food.

Re: Coronavirus

I went to our local Migros and asked for hand sanitizer. They've been sold out for days. Flour was sold out too. Most everything else was still available.
