That is some awful advice. With a 2%-10% mortality rate it is only a question of time until infrastructure starts to fail.
Really? Are you expecting WWIII?

Keeping your senses is a good idea, overreacting does not help anyone.

Three months worth of food is a couple kilos of pasta, 60 tins, some sauces and some soups. It is hardly an overreaction to get some food in the likely event that food will be hard to come by.

Look at the work from Nasim Taleb and fat tailed distribution. This is a multiplicative disease with the chance of reinfection and a minimum of 2% mortality rate.

This disease is going to disrupt a lot and it is sound advice to be prepared.

Re: Coronavirus

One can as well make hand sanitizer at home, simply mix rubbing alcohol and aloe Vera gel 2:1, few drops of essential oil of your choice if you prefer some scent. Fill into some squeeze bottles and bobís your uncle.

Otherwise, business as usual.
I've nursed my OH through 2 bouts of flu, so I've stocked up on the things that I can get him to eat and drink when he's ill, because if he does get sick, I wouldn't be able to nip out and buy them. It's just things like extra garlic, milk, goulash soup and honey. He goes though garlic like nobody I've ever known when he's ill. He lies in bed chewing on clove after clove and stinking the bedroom out.

I don't.

The only thing we bought "extra" today was one more liter of milk and an extra block of butter - but only because I'm making a lot of hot chocolate right now and I plan to make a cake tomorrow. Otherwise, business as usual.
Pretty much same here .. Last few days I've been over the border and Carrefour and in my local COOP hypermarchť .. Neither was visibly understocked.. Sure there were a few random empty slots yesterday, like they no edamame beans!?

We have a 'larder' anyways and that's always stocked up with random special offers and multi packs.. We changed nothing on our last shopping trip. We just shop that way, buy 6 packs, multipacks etc.

And you are certain itís the flu and not an overdose of garlic?

Coronavirus abroad

Starting this so you post numbers about other countries and doubt everything foreign governments have to say.

I personally reckon Egypt is lying about their situation, they claim just one case (who recovered but people from Britain and from some other country came back infected.

Iran is also probablyl lying about their situation, I think they've lost control and pilgrims coming back from Qom are infecting the surrounding countries (Bahrein, Iraq, Pakistan, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE and Oman so far).

You can track the worldwide situation with these two sites:

https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/a...23467b48e9ecf6

https://bnonews.com/index.php/2020/0...navirus-cases/

And as recommended by others in this thread: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

In such case better stock up on decent whisky's, previous wars have taught us that booze can be traded for almost everything (this besides the "occasional nip" ourselves.

Re: Coronavirus abroad

Perhaps these countries cannot afford the testing kits. I know Iran has struggled to source them because of Mr. Trumps sanctions. Although Medical equipment isnít covered by the sanctions, that doesnít mean that companies are prepared to trade with Iran. Particularly when they have little hard currency.

Iím not sure the purpose of your thread. It doesnít appear to be related to Switzerland or English Speaking residents here.

Re: Coronavirus

Assuming person is not significantly underweight and does not have any food at home, find overstocking quite...well, interesting.
With the extra weight could first survive at least 4 weeks without any food just to get to the summer shape and after that there should be enough random food like rice, pasta, lentils and oil for at least 2 weeks, dying for starvation would come maybe 8-12 weeks after that.
Gin would run out in roughly 3-4 weeks (assuming would get smashed every night) on which after would need to stick to wine (maybe 1 week worth of stock if consuming moderate 2 bottles per day)

Think there is a change I did catch this f##### today as was in the train filled with openly and constantly coughing m##### f####### but as the mortality rate below age 45 seems to be relatively low so far, will not organize funeral just yet.
