A bit impossible to restrict travels to and from Italy here and for good reasons....but if you're talking about Europe in general, some countries imposed 14 days of quarantine at domicile to people coming from the worst affected areas or more affected countries. I bet some people here find these measures horrific and discriminatory. So we're discussing things from this level.
What I mean really is that without drastic measures like the Chinese have implemented, the spread through Europe may explode..
Here's an example from Norway, quarantined people are not staying in, they are living as normal, shopping, gym, doctors etc. They are simply not going to work.

We've also seen various reports from Italy about people bypassing restrictions to go shopping etc outside of their quarantine zone.

Of course I don't want draconian restrictions but we do seem rather lax..

Will people in Europe / USA accept being told to stay home? Forced to stay home?

Lets hope they will stay at home. It will be great to have the beaches to myself!

Europe is not China. Their meat eating habits and hygiene and barbaric treatment of animals are the cause of the whole thing. They have nothing but themselves to blame.

No, because they (many) don't really understand why these measures are taken and how prevention works.

I saw this. Preexisting condition.

The hospitals and EMS will have it tough for a few weeks. Or seasons.

Re: Coronavirus

Some friends in Basel City have been told to expect school to be closed for the next two weeks. Last week and this have been the school holidays, so not sure what provisions are in place for working parents now? My kids are in BL and I'm guessing that could follow suit, if so I will ask if I could work from home.

This is what I mean here

People are simply not heeding advice and deciding to carry on as normal.

The Logic. A fine will solve everything Simply follow the well tested Swiss rule. Always keep distance from the other! Min 2 meter.

Lol. Nice move. And no. I think it is the only way to make somebody realize the severity of the health risk for the defenceless part of the population.

Unfortunately, no. A health care worker in New Hampshire decided to ignore recommendations and attended a social event.
