This is one of the things I love about EF. Someone who is alone and afraid reaches out asking how to get help, and many people offer real advice and encouragement, (a few people don't see why the OP has reservations or is afraid), and here is a conrete, real offer of help. Wonderful! Thank you, Omtatsat.
Thanks. I think I have even lost a red blob if I am not mistaken😁

I'd be more concerned why a doctor packed her off with a bunch of meds she can't administer herself, and gave zero advice or instruction.
OP didn't actually say she'd had no advice or instruction. Even if she had, I can well understand her being concerned about it, and wanting more advice or even active help the first couple of times.

It's not difficult, but it is scary.

So it would seem. Maybe helped by having some of your more pointless threads removed, eh?

Yep, fair comment but it was the later post:

Thank you omtatsat, I asked in HB permanence and they didnt accept to do it. I would do it myself if the medication didn't need prepa, but as it does i prefer to see if I have any other option. I am not afraid of needles or the pain ;-)
...where it sounded like the OP hadn't received the necessary instruction and it just seemed a bit slapdash on the part of the doctor, especially if it needs more preparation than just taking the needle out of the pack and off you go.

If not, then fair enough.

I am alone in Zurich I am afraid...
Is there someone in the doctor's practice who can show you? I did sub-q injections a few years back, and once the nurse showed me, there was nothing to it really. it was super easy and painless (I promise) since the needles are very thin. This from someone who hates needles with a passion.

OP, if you need some help, PM me. I'm in Zurich, and I'll be happy to help you.

Spitex is really good for the elderly. Or in complicated things that definitely require home help.

Dear all, topic solved and i think i m good to go, thanks for your tips in this forum and especially the ones which offer to give a hand!

I see from your posts that some have good experience, but just to say that everything might sound tricky if you have never done it- I am sure after the first shot i will be giving advice to the new batch...

A nice evening to all,
Lina

Re: Need for a nurse at home- help with injections

One thing I learned if you're doing SC injections at an angle(the angle will depend on how much fat you have), was that if the point of the needle is beveled it should be rotated so that the sharp point hits the skin first (bevel furthest away from the skin)

What do you mean? I will proceed myself and realised there are people in this forum with experience if needed. I won t call Spitex but pharmacists can also advise if necessary as I realized from the pharmacy I asked, that actually sells the drug.

Well, can’t imagine in that case why you bothered here.
Think before posting and wasting time and effort.
What a ridiculous thing to say.

I would imagine that the info, encouragement and advice she received here was actually very useful to her.

Edit : I see you have now deleted this post.

Re: Need for a nurse at home- help with injections

Here is a good video on how to do it. The direction of the bevel is generally not so relevant with SC as the needle is so thin. With thicker needles its more relevant for example with intra venous

Yes the technique with the syringe and needle is like throwing a dart. But of course one does not let go of the syringe. Its a sort of flick action with the wrist. Not to hard and not too slowly.

Yes, I saw it only as I happened to be scrolling back through for some reason. It was an error, which is why I have since removed it.
