Corona virus test fee, with deductibles, no income

Hi
I just lost my job, and waiting to see if I qualify for benefits as < 12 months here. Is the full 280chf payable as I’m on a low monthly health premium with high deductibles.

Since this is a public health issue, isn’t this a disincentive for people not to test?

Thanks

Insurance will reimburse 180F.

But testing will be limited. So unless you are high risk or sick itís unlikely you will be tested.

Only if you already used your deductible.

Sounds like a flaw in the system, I donít know the stats but poorer people with low premiums, high deductibles wonít want to test.

Maybe they could charge the actual cost instead of the gratuitously high one offered?

People who only have mild symptoms will not be tested anymore anyway, if more severe cases do not want to be tested that is fine by me, as long as they choose to not leave the house for some weeks no matter what.

And actual cost? You mean your doctors have to become volunteers instead of people who want to be paid for all their years in college?

Law/Rulings say that the kantons have to pay, but government took on a new ruling that health insurances have to pay (they among each other are still debating this, but that does not help you now), so normal deductibles and the 10% up to 700,- rule apply.

Re: Corona virus test fee, with deductibles, no income

Urgent question everyone:

I arrived a bit (within three months) ago but I am still in the process of setting up my health insurance. Iíve filled in and sent off the forms etc, but Iím still waiting for my letter back from the health insurance company confirming the insurance. I supplied the honest date when I arrived in the country and am due to be charged from that date.

Weíve now had multiple cases of coronavirus in my office and Iím worried Iím infected as Iím labouring for breath a bit.

If I need treatment am I covered? My thoughts were that I am given they have to take me and my payments are backdated to the date of my arrival.

Ok, so the WHO has just called a Pandemic.
Now it starts to get interesting.

No matter what they call it, the numbers speak for themselves, rapid growth in a lot of countries, we missed the chance for containment completely, all we can do now is try to slow it down so the hospital get less overflowing.

Thanks! Youíve stopped a bit of a panic about costs. Now I can move on worrying about the disease itself

For the vast majority of people, coronavirus will not require any expensive treatment at all though- so unlikely to exceed your franchise (the first part you have to pay yourself before the Insurance kicks in - which have you chosen?).

Chose the maximum 2500, which is fine. Just worried that I get ill it could easily be an awful lot more!

Re: Corona virus test fee, with deductibles, no income

As per what I read in a news source (albeit a mealymouthed, low-utility outlet), the Covid test criteria is quite restrictive. If a doctor is prescribing anyone to get tested, the costs should be least of a concern. If $$$ is tight, there're waivers available on insurance premiums.

Quote:
For example, a 60 year old man with a cough, high temperature and breathing difficulties, living with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, would not qualify for a test if he isnít in a high risk group (suffering from hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease or immunosuppression), isnít a health worker, doesnít live in a care home in the canton of Vaud.

The maximum you will pay is 2500 + 10% of 6000 (something like that...) + your premiums.
